Position Title: Camp Counselor - Camp AchieveCompensation: 17.00Department: Ctr for Autism Spectrum Disorders - TempStart Date: 05/21/2026About this opportunity: Camp Achieve is a day camp for children diagnosed with autism spectrumdisorder between the ages of 6 and 12 that provides innovative programming and therapeutic recreational activities to improve the social, behavioral, and academic skills of autistic students. Camp Achieve Camp Counselors will attend, plan, execute, and engage in daily camp activities for autistic children ages 6-12 in a 6-week summer day camp. Additionally, this position will ensure the direct supervision of campers. Job Duties: 1. Collaborate with camp staff in the daily care and supervision of campers. 2. Learn and implement all behavior support plans. 3. Facilitate punctual and safe transitions throughout the camp day. 4. Provide direct supervision to campers ensuring camper/staff safety and engagement in camp activities. 5. Develop rapport with campers and their families and assist in group activities as needed. 6. Monitor curriculum education, physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of children with Autism spectrum disorders. 7. Participate in trainings. 8. Serve as a role model to all campers and staff with professionalism and positive attitude. 9. Assist campers with activities of daily living (ADL). ADL's include, but are not limited to: dressing, toileting, and eating. 10. Assist in writing progress reports for campers. 11. Participate in parent conferences at the end of camp. 12. Assist in group activities. 13. Supervise activities to enhance the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of children with autism spectrum disorders. 14. Assist campers in the pool daily (i.e., must be comfortable in the shallow end of a pool). 15. Perform other related duties as assigned. 16. Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Staff training will occur from May 21 through June 5. The camp program will run from June 8 through July 14. Parent conferences are scheduled for July 16, with final reporting and end-of-program clean-up concluding on July 17. Designated university holidays, including Memorial Day (May 25) and Juneteenth (June 19), will be observed. All staff are expected to work Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., throughout both the training period and the duration of camp.
