POSITION SUMM ARY:

This position is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and management for the Integration & Process Improvement program-focus on Conduct of Operations improvement.

MAJOR DUT IES & RESPONSIB ILITIES:

Include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides leadership and direction to N3B personnel and Management team.
  • Initiates cultural assessments and culture shifts/changes that may impact business process cycles.
  • Focus on ConOps assessment, CAS and procedure improvement and program revision.
  • Analyzes N3B Operations and Organizational parameters to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develops corrective action plans and provide recommendations to Program Managers.
  • Provides mechanisms to capture baseline data before and after improvements are made.
  • Identifies areas of potential cost reduction, increase productivity, program improvement, and/or policy change.
  • Develops metrics for measuring and monitoring performance.
  • Improves key aspects of N3B operational excellence through streamlining of business integration and processes, and identification of process gaps.
  • Ensures objectives are met while performed safely and in compliance with all Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, DOE Orders and Executive Orders.
  • Develops advanced concepts, techniques, and standards.
  • Develops new applications based on professional principles and theories.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENC E:

  • Bachelors' degree in a technical discipline combined with at least 18 years' of relevant experience. Experience should include a minimum of 7 years' of management responsibility. However, a combination of education and relevant experience wherein the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the position's duties and responsibilities have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A strong background in Nuclear Operations and in Waste Management is desired for this position

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, & ABILITY:

  • Advance knowledge in transuranic waste processes, including programmatic experience with CH-TRU, LLW and MLLW and associated pathways for disposition.
  • Advance knowledge of TA-54, Area G operating practices, safety authorization basis and implementation.
  • Skill and ability to analyze and develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Skill and ability to perform complex professional and senior management tasks independently, and to analyze and develop innovative solutions to problems.
  • Skill and ability to perform critical strategic tasks and to interpret broad strategic requirements and develop and execute plans to satisfy them.
  • Skill in developing and leading large-sized projects, including defining scope, objectives and methods.
  • Skill in technical expertise in the safe, compliant management of TRU and hazardous waste in high-hazard environments at a DOE cleanup site.
  • Skill in transportation, management, and disposal of radioactive, hazardous, CH-TRU, and remediation material.
  • Ability and skill in practiced and impromptu presenting and public speaking.
  • Ability to manage hazardous and radioactive waste disposition operations safely and in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Ability to build and lead a team in support of critical service delivery activities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at the highest levels.
  • Ability to contribute functional expertise to organizational initiatives and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to identify and address potential process improvement opportunities in the areas of quality, efficiency, cost-saving, waste reduction, etc.
  • Ability to integrate and coordinate across multi-functional organizations and various disciplines to achieve mission goals and objectives is essential.
  • Ability to provide clear direction, priority, goals, performance feedback, and mentoring.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHY SICAL REQUIREMENT S:

  • Individuals must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • This position works in an office environment with low noise level due mostly to office equipment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, stand, and occasionally climb or balance, squat, stoop, twist, turn, push, pull, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms.
  • This position frequently must lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and infrequently must lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Hearing requirements include ability to listen and respond appropriately to conversations in person, virtually, and over the phone.
  • Only electrical hazards and other minor potential hazards normally found in an office environment are anticipated.

  • Maintains required safety, security and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; make safety, security and quality an integral part of every task; including stopping work if job is unsafe or compromises security.
