Purpose of the Role

As a Project Manager at Worley, you will lead the delivery of engineering and project execution work supporting oil & gas refinery operations. With a strong background in the refining industry, you will plan, execute and optimize projects that enhance operational efficiency, safety, reliability and regulatory compliance.

You will manage projects in accordance with contractual requirements and Worley governance, translating customer and operational objectives into clear execution strategies. Working independently and in collaboration with portfolio and project leadership, you will contribute to predictable delivery outcomes while strengthening trusted customer relationships across the refining sector.

This position is in Englewood Colorado, working a 3-day hybrid schedule, and not eligible for remote work.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery and Engineering Leadership

  • Plan, organize, manage and control multiple small projects, a single medium project, or defined scopes within large or mega refining projects.
  • Lead and manage engineering delivery from project conception through completion, ensuring alignment with refining industry standards, customer requirements and regulatory obligations.
  • Work both independently and in collaboration with the senior project manager and/or portfolio manager to drive overall project success.
  • Define project scope, execution strategies, schedules and budgets, and communicate these clearly to stakeholders.
  • Oversee the design, development and implementation of refining process improvements, debottlenecking initiatives and infrastructure upgrades.

Safety, Quality and Regulatory Compliance

  • Demonstrate full commitment to health, safety and wellbeing, providing visible safety leadership to the project team.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety requirements, including applicable refining regulations and codes.
  • Identify, assess and manage project risks, maintaining a current risk register and implementing mitigation and contingency plans.

Commercial and Financial Management

  • Apply in-depth knowledge of customer contracts to the oversight and management of refining projects.
  • Track cost, schedule and progress, using analytical skills to forecast trends and support recovery actions where required.
  • Understand project cost build-up, gross margin and financial drivers.
  • Ensure effective change control processes are understood and applied by the project team.
  • Manage cash flow requirements, including work in progress, accounts receivable and days sales outstanding (DSO).

Operational Support and Technical Expertise

  • Collaborate closely with client project, operations, maintenance and regulatory teams to optimize refinery performance.
  • Provide technical expertise and support for troubleshooting and problem resolution related to refining operations and maintenance.
  • Ensure design teams comply with customer Basis of Design, applicable codes and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize engineering software and tools to support design, analysis and engineering delivery.

People, Leadership and Collaboration

  • Define and select project teams required to deliver the agreed scope of work.
  • Oversee, motivate and monitor team performance, addressing quality, schedule and capability gaps.
  • Work collaboratively across disciplines, functions, geographies and cultures to achieve shared objectives.

Customer, Stakeholder and Business Development Support

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, vendors and key stakeholders.
  • Clearly communicate project requirements, contractual obligations, customer expectations, key performance indicators and project status.
  • Manage contractor and vendor relationships, ensuring quality, safety and adherence to project specifications.
  • Assist with proposal development and, where required, take a leadership role in preparing and presenting proposals and reports.

Qualifications

Education and Technical Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required - Engineering experience and degree desired.
  • Professional Engineer preferred but not required.
  • Typically, 10+ years of overall experience, including significant project management, technical, or supervisory responsibilities, with 8-10 years of demonstrated experience delivering refining projects within operating facilities.
  • Experience leading small to medium projects or defined scopes within large projects.
  • Experience across EPCM and EPC delivery models, including site-based assignments.
  • Exposure to workshare execution and multi-location project delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of refining processes, equipment and industry best practices.
  • Familiarity with applicable industry regulations and standards (such as OSHA, EPA, API, ASME).
  • Proficiency in engineering and process design tools, including AutoCAD, Aspen HYSYS or similar software.
  • Solid understanding of project management, budgeting, scheduling and project controls.
  • Ability to interpret project control reports, schedules and resource plans, and implement corrective actions.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capability.
  • Clear and confident communicator, able to engage effectively with customers, operations teams, contractors and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to influence, collaborate and build trust across diverse teams and environments.
  • Strong attention to detail combined with a practical, delivery-focused mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, operationally sensitive environment.

Additional Information:

  • Position is in Englewood / Denver Colorado.
  • Salary: $152,738 - $206,646 annually commensurate with experience.
  • Benefits: Eligible for PTO, 401k, medical, vision, dental, etc.
