Technical Crew Chief Overview:

The Technical Crew Chief position is responsible for providing technical assistance, guidance, and operational support to the Tech Ops Department. This position will deal with cases where it is determined that the work to be performed is more involved and cannot readily be resolved by a deferral or general resolution.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform and provide technical assistance and guidance in troubleshooting to Company or contract maintenance vendor technicians. Including follow through on lengthy, complicated defects and providing detailed turnover reports for a continuous action plan.
  • Perform follow up actions on no fault found resolutions.
  • Research repeat defect data and formulate specific actions to perform to prevent reoccurrence
  • Evaluate required materials, tooling, and routing considerations to efficiently perform the recommended actions.
  • Communicate delay estimates and return to service times to both internal and external groups.
  • Manage out of service indicators on the AIMS movement board.
  • Complete Company records and reports such as delay reports, turn-over log entries in a comprehensive and proficient manner.
  • Monitor and track problematic aircraft and drive troubleshooting efforts to final resolution.
  • Provides technical direction and troubleshooting assistance to Aircraft Maintenance.
  • Analyzes aircraft structural, mechanical, electrical, avionics, and power plant system discrepancies; make recommendations for corrective actions by providing oral and written instructions.
  • Interprets, issues, authorizes repairs of Minimum Equipment List (MEL), Configuration Deviation List (CDL), and Maintenance Tracking and Control (MTI) items.
  • Coordinates with other departments for MEL, CDL, NEF, and other deferred maintenance items to be issued with Work Orders.
  • Travels to aircraft or stations to provide on-site assistance and guidance in the detection and recommended repair return the aircraft to service.
  • Reviews aircraft maintenance log records and analyze all information for the performance/condition of an aircraft system, component, and Engines.
  • Monitors fleet reliability: detecting and eliminating repeat aircraft discrepancies through Repeat Control using software applications, issuing instructions to troubleshoot and correct repeat discrepancies.
  • Monitors to ensure compliance with procedures prior to the dispatch of an aircraft.
  • Coordinates technical information to flight crews during in-flight operations utilizing approved means including ARINC, SATCOM, ACARS, company frequencies or other approved means.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting to identify root cause and appropriate corrective action to diagnose or avert equipment problem
  • Ensure work is executed according to plan and schedule
  • Ensure compliance and safety through effective understanding of safety requirements and acceptable documentation procedures
  • Coordinates with inventory control to ensure parts are available for AOS aircraft
  • Assist in monitoring all work being performed by outside contractors during AOS events
  • Responsible for 24-hour emergency maintenance service as needed
  • Any other duties assigned by management


Required Qualifications:



  • Five to seven years of experience working on commercial aircraft
  • Airframe and Powerplant certificate
  • Experience with troubleshooting equipment and operation issues
  • Ability to effectively communicate through verbal, written and electronic means
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Maintain professional and courteous manner with all employees, co-workers, vendors, clients, customers, and members
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the Company
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment, discretion, and initiative
  • Self-motivated and independent problem-solving ability
  • Must have valid driver's license and passport

  • Technical Operations experience with 737


Compensation:

$42.94 USD per hour along with a night shift differential. This is the base compensation hiring range for this role.

Work Environment:

This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones photocopiers, filing cabinets. This job will also operate in the maintenance hangar and ramp area. This role is routinely exposed to all weather elements.

Physical Demands:

Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking. Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing. Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations. Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching. Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 75 pounds. Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases.
