Team Summary

Visa's Government Affairs (GA) organization aims to create broad alignment between Visa's business objectives and public policies that affect the payments industry. Our North America Government Affairs (NA GA) team is headquartered in Washington, D.C. with colleagues in Canada, California, Colorado, and Utah. We engage with a wide range of policy makers and stakeholders to advocate, educate, and provide thought leadership as it relates to Visa's policy interests to expand access and usage of digital payments around the world. Our team works closely with colleagues across the company including Social Impact & Sustainability, Communications, Marketing, Finance, Compliance, Legal, Risk, Account Executives, Product, Business Solutions, and Visa Consulting & Analytics. Together, the team ensures that NA GA continues to maintain its high standard of support for addressing regulatory and policy challenges and enabling business opportunities in North America.

What a Senior Manager of Strategy and Operations does at Visa:

Reporting directly to the Senior Director, Head of North America Government Affairs Strategy & Operations, this position will have an active role in North America Government Affair's strategic planning, content development, business operations, and reporting in addition to continuously driving process improvements and alignment across the team.

Essential Functions:

  • Create thoughtful, and relevant government affairs-related content includingpresentations, talking points, and quarterly newsletters.
  • Produce executive-level reporting.
  • Support the production and editing of briefing materials.
  • Play an active role in key operational activities.
  • Support event planning and execution for internal and external audiences, partnering with colleagues and stakeholders for large- and small-scale events.
  • Continuously review and enhance tools, SOPs, templates, and processes to ensure accuracy and maximize productivity for the team. Share and apply standard methodologies, maximizing performance and elevating productivity across the team.
  • Support collaboration between the team and cross-functional business partners.
  • Support the implementation of a multi-year strategic plan and drive collective accountability against related OKRs.

This is a hybrid position. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office three set days a week.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
  • 7 or more years of work experience with a bachelor's degree, at least 5 years of work experience with an advanced degree, or at least 2 years of work experience with a PhD.
  • Outstanding communication skills with demonstrated experience developing creative and engaging PowerPoint presentations and drafting informative memos for a senior audience.
  • Ability to keep abreast of the political environment and payments-related policies and regulations.
  • Analytical mindset coupled with excellent problem-solving skills and ability to implement well thought out solutions with a 'fail fast' mentality.
  • Experience leading and balancing projects with competing deadlines and external stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting the execution of events.
  • High emotional intelligence. Ability to quickly build authentic, constructive professional relationships with colleagues and external partners.
  • Curious and flexible team player, willing to take on new tasks as priorities shift.
  • Keen attention to detail with track record of consistently delivering meticulous, thoughtful work within tight deadlines.
  • Highly organized with the ability to multi-task and independently manage and prioritize assignments.
  • Exceptional professional judgment, ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost discretion.
  • Expert in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Previous professional experience in a government or regulatory capacity, politics, public relations, event planning, communications, consulting, or at a trade association.
Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for this position is 152,200.00 to 243,700.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
