Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking a mid to senior-level DevOps Engineer to design and engineer platforms within a complex on-prem and hybrid infrastructure environment. The selected candidate is responsible for designing and building the tooling, automation, and delivery patterns used by application teams. This IT role focuses on engineering solutions rather than day-to-day operations or ticket-based support. Operational ownership transitions to administrator roles once solutions are delivered and documented.

This position is onsite, non-remote in our North Logan, UT location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements CI/CD pipeline infrastructure
  • Defines standardized build, deployment, and promotion patterns across environments
  • Partners with development teams to design reliable and secure delivery workflows
  • Engineers platform observability patterns, including metrics, logs, and traces
  • Embeds security and compliance requirements (e.g., CMMC, NIST 800-171) into design
  • Participates in architectural reviews and platform roadmap planning
  • Builds, automates, and evolves CI/CD pipelines using cloud native solutions or infrastructure as code
  • Contributes to platform standards, reference architectures, and technical decision-making processes
  • Delivers engineered platform solutions with complete documentation, reference architectures, and operational handoff to administrator teams
  • Provides after-hours and on-call support as required

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in lieu of degree
  • 5+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform, or software engineering roles, including at least 3 years in a DevOps/Kubernetes platform engineering capacity
  • 1+ year hands-on experience in a DevOps or platform engineering role
  • Strong CI/CD engineering experience (GitHub Actions, Flux v2, Argo, Jenkins, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of containerized application delivery
  • Experience designing solutions for production environments
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance
  • Must be able to travel as needed
  • Valid CompTIA Security+ certification (or equivalent) is required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in a DevOps or platform engineering role
  • Azure-native platform experience
  • Kubernetes experience (AKS highly preferred)
  • GitOps or declarative deployment models
  • Experience designing platforms in regulated environments

*Salary Range
  • $91,000 - $138,000
    • Salary commensurate based on education and relevant experience
