Students will receive a project at the beginning of the summer and present it in our project expo at the end of the summer. Job Description

Job Summary/Objective:
The purpose of Southwire's College Programs is to help early career professionals bring together formal learning and

productive work to improve their ability to transition from school to work. Southwire provides interns and co-ops with

"real world" applications of their academic studies, helpful feedback and coaching, and consideration for employment

after graduation. Each student will have a variety of responsibilities and assigned projects that relate to their field of

study and be responsible for developing a timeline, progress updates, and final delivery in a senior leadership expo.

Note: All new interns and co-ops must begin in the summer rotation.

Key Responsibilities
* Your intern assignment is generally 10-12 weeks, and co-op assignment is generally 16-18 weeks and

will include an assigned project and opportunities to present your work.

* You will also collaborate on other exciting projects and work with talented peers and inspirational

leaders, many of whom began as interns and co-ops themselves.

* You will be provided a robust developmental experience through an immersive onboarding and

offboarding experience, assigned a mentor, networking opportunities, organized events, activities, and

community service /volunteer initiatives.

* You will have the opportunity to impact the future of the organization, all the while being exposed to

a world-class program community.

Long Description

Position Summary

This position will support the Corporate Accounting team as it prepares to transition to a new ERP system, including contributing to the refinement of Southwire's chart of accounts. The intern will help review, organize, and update the current chart of accounts book so it can be used consistently across the Finance organization. This role offers handson experience working with new system implementation processes, collaborating with multiple departments, and improving communication and workflow in preparation for system changes. Students with natural curiosity, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage timelines will thrive in this role

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the review and refinement of the current chart of accounts book to ensure accuracy, clarity, and companywide usability.
  • Assist with preparing finance documentation needed for the transition to the new ERP system.
  • Collaborate with teams across Finance and other departments to understand needs, gather input, and streamline communication around chart of accounts updates.
  • Help identify gaps, inconsistencies, or improvement opportunities within existing account structures or documentation.
  • Proactively communicate project timelines, progress, and challenges, including what steps you would take if running behind on a task.
  • Contribute ideas and ask thoughtful questions to support better processes, cleaner documentation, and stronger crossfunctional alignment.
  • Participate in project meetings and support other accounting system transition activities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2.5 GPA.
  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organization, planning, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) or other relevant tools.
