Grants Specialist

ThinkTek was formed with the specific purpose of providing its clients a tailored solution around Program & Project Management, Strategic Planning, and IT Operations.

Position Overview
USAID is seeking a Grant Specialist to provide expert guidance on the procedural, legal, and operational requirements associated with grant terminations and closeouts. This role ensures compliance with USAID and U.S. Government regulations and works closely with Agreement Officers (AOs), legal counsel, technical offices, and implementing partners. This is a full-time, hybrid position.

Key Responsibilities




  • Perform financial administration functions, including expenditure review and reimbursement processing.



  • Manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.



  • Coordinate with the Agreement Officer when issues arise that may impact the timely completion of work.



  • Collaborate with grant recipients and Agreement Officers to ensure all closeout actions are completed.



  • Prepare and disseminate closeout correspondence to grant recipients, as applicable.



  • Review and process actions required for the proper closeout of Federal awards.



  • Process grant-related actions in USAID's grants and financial management systems.



  • Request, review, and evaluate final indirect cost rate agreements, as required.



  • Conduct final reviews of completed awards and required reports and provide recommendations to the Agreement Officer.



  • Review financial reports submitted by grant recipients, verify accuracy, and recommend follow-up actions to the Agreement Officer as needed.



  • Ensure grant files are complete and accurately track all closeout actions.



  • Monitor the status of de-obligation of Federal funds.




Minimum Qualifications




  • At least 5 years of experience in U.S. Government grant management, including a minimum of 1 year of experience performing grant terminations and negotiating final award budgets.



  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field.



  • Demonstrated ability to quickly assimilate new information and gain proficiency in unfamiliar award types, including Government-to-Government agreements, Title II programs, Interagency Awards, and Public International Organizations.
