The Senior Analyst, High Voltage is a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of the renewable energy industry, specializing in solar PV systems. This individual will leverage expertise in data analysis and project management to enhance the efficiency and reliability of solar power plants. They will lead the development and implementation of strategies to improve system performance, utilizing analytical skills to identify areas for optimization. The Senior Analyst will work independently, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to drive sustainable energy solutions. This role actively supports the organization's commitment to environmental stewardship and the advancement of renewable energy, contributing to the success of solar projects.

This role is part of the Maintenance Support Services Team, reporting to the BOP Manager, the High Voltage Specialist provides the safe management, maintenance, documentation, and repair guidance of high voltage equipment and Balance of Plant components for our Wind, Solar, and Solar plus Storage sites.

This role is based out of our Winslow, AZ office. Candidates located in Phoenix, AZ or nearby areas will be considered; however, regular travel to Winslow is required.

Essential Functions:

  • Investigate/document NERC-registered protection system operations, report mis-operations to the AES Clean Energy (AES CE) NERC compliance team, develop/document Corrective Action Plans as needed and ensure Corrective Actions have been completed

  • Download relay event files to assist engineering in determining causes of trips and identifying where faults may be in the system.

  • Knowledge of various equipment found in substation protection schemes including microprocessor relays, electro-mechanical lock-out relays, potential transformers, current transformers, etc.

  • In-depth knowledge of NERC standards associated with Protection Systems including (but not limited to): PRC-005-6, PRC-004-5(i), PRC-026-1, PRC-027-1

  • Responsible for all high and medium voltage (Vacuum Circuit Breakers & GSU)

  • Troubleshoot and repair of electrical components - Switch gear, Transformers, Protection Relays, and Breakers

  • Safe and proper use of electrical testing equipment

  • Manage and coordinate the work of multiple contractors and suppliers

  • Effectively schedule electrical work activities and outage coordination

  • Responsible for predictive, preventive, and corrective electrical maintenance activities

  • Maintain accurate records and files

  • Ensure high-voltage tools, equipment and parts are available or in stock to perform work

  • Maintain good/working relationships with investors and key points of contact

Educational and Skill Qualifications:

  • High school diploma with an associate degree in electrical engineering; or High and Medium Voltage Electrical maintenance experience

  • Must maintain a valid State driver's license

  • Must have thorough knowledge of NFPA 70E requirements regarding arc flash analyses

  • Experience in maintaining Over-head and Under-ground electrical infrastructure and Underground Collection Systems

  • Proven ability to read and understand various single line, 3 line, electrical and instrumentation diagrams, and drawings

  • Demonstrated ability to create a safe work environment

  • Strong Safety Oriented and committed to the AES CE Values and Culture

  • Familiar with a proactive approach to Maintenance Management (CMMS) and knowledgeable in Best Practices specific to predictive and preventative maintenance, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and condition-based monitoring techniques

  • Must be results oriented, self-motivated, and able to work with limited direct supervision

  • Ability to work outside in inclement weather conditions

  • Willing to work extra and/or irregular hours and/or a shift schedule

  • Responds to or assists with emergency situations. This includes being available on a 24-hour basis as necessary

  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Power Point, & Excel)
