Position Purpose:

The Regional Health & Safety Sr Manager for the USA who will help design, implement, and sustain this long-term program.

These roles will evolve significantly over time. You will be physically located at one of our regional companies in (Kansas City, San Leandro or Stratham) Functionally, you will report to the local Vice President of Operations, and in the first year you will also work closely with, and report indirectly to, the Group Health & Safety Manager as part of the global program design team.

During the first year, their focus will be to help finalize and deploy the new Global Health & Safety Management System (H&S MS), define resource requirements, and develop communication and implementation materials. As the program moves into full deployment and maintenance, the emphasis will shift to embedding the system across the organization-coaching leaders, providing resources and technical guidance, and ensuring long-term continuous improvement.

This role requires strong technical and behavioural safety capability, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to build trust and influence at all levels of the organisation. It involves working in a virtual global environment with regular travel for design workshops and regional site visits.

Key Responsibilities

Program Design (Year 1)



  • Support creation and deployment of the Global H&S Management System and adapt for regional approach, governance, KPIs, and tools.
  • Develop or validate technical safety standards, guidance documents, and performance frameworks.
  • Act as the regional Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more key risk areas, such as:

    • Process safety
    • Control of hazardous energy (LOTO)
    • Engineering/machine safety
    • Electrical safety
    • Road safety
    • Ergonomics
    • Working at height / DROPS
    • Incident investigation
    • Contractor safety management
    • Management of change
    • Security & emergency response




  • Build and lead a global stakeholder network across regions to identify current practices, gaps, and future requirements.
  • Define regional competency, capacity, and resource needs to ensure sustainable implementation of the new H&S MS.
  • Establish proactive KPIs and ensure consistent global reporting and communication.
  • Contribute global insights, best practices, and recommendations to program deliverables and governance structure.
  • Crate and/or quality check various deliverables related to (technical) safety standards, performance management and target setting of the to be created Global H&S Management System.
  • Maintain active line of communication between Group and local level to ensure best practice sharing and effective collaboration to achieve global goals
  • Lead implementation of global H&S roadmap in the region.
  • Coach and train leaders and teams on new standards.
  • Provide front-line technical support and ensure long-term continuous improvement of H&S performance.



Programme Deployment & Sustainment (Post-Design Phase)



  • Take ownership of assigned portions of the global H&S roadmap as a Regional H&S Manager and SME.
  • Support the transition from programme start-up to "business as usual," embedding standards and processes sustainably.
  • Train and coach colleagues across their region to implement the programme effectively.
  • Support their local sites by ensuring day-to-day compliance, implementation, and maintenance of H&S programmes.
  • Participate in incident investigations related to their areas of expertise and ensure timely follow-up.
  • Continuously monitor, analyse, and communicate regional and functional H&S performance.
  • Promote a strong, positive safety culture and serve as a key driver of long-term behavioural change.
  • Use insights and benchmarking to continuously improve H&S performance across their region.
  • Regional oversight of contractor management processes.



Qualifications & Experience

Education



  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or science-based discipline.
  • Master's degree in a technical or science-based discipline preferredFormal Health & Safety qualification (e.g., CSP, , IOSH, ) strongly preferred.


Professional Experience



  • Minimum 8 years of total health & safety professional experience, with at least 5 years in frontline FMCG or manufacturing environments (factory experience highly preferred).
  • Experience working within regional or global H&S systems in a matrixed or decentralised organisation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more key H&S risk domains.
  • Experience deploying behavioural-based safety programmes and driving sustainable cultural change.
  • Strong track-record influencing without formal authority-coaching, guiding, and enabling leaders at all levels.


Skills & Competencies



  • Ability to influence without formal authority; a collaborative safety leader rather than a compliance enforcer.
  • Clear, motivating communicator with the ability to simplify technical concepts for frontline teams.
  • Strong interpersonal, coaching, and relationship-building skills across functions and cultures.
  • Experience working in diverse, global, matrixed, and/or decentralized organizations.
  • Adaptability and openness to an evolving role as the program shifts from design to execution.
  • Fluency in English required, Spanish language skills a plus
