Job Description




As a Security Officer - Gatehouse Driver in Sulphur, LA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Chemical/Petrochemical, and more. Join Allied Universal at a chemical and petrochemical location where you will support access control by checking credentials, issuing badges, and managing entry and exit activity. You will complete routine patrols, stay visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and communicate clearly with site teams and visitors while delivering strong customer service. This is a driving post requiring a valid driver's license.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to employees, contractors, and visitors by following site-specific access control procedures at a chemical and/or petrochemical location, including verifying identification and processing badges, passes, and visitor logs.
  • Control entry and exit for personnel, deliveries, and service vehicles by checking credentials, confirming authorization, and directing traffic flow through designated checkpoints.
  • Monitor alarms, cameras, and communications systems as assigned, and document security-related activity, access events, and unusual conditions in daily reports.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including initiating emergency response notifications and coordinating with site contacts and first responders as directed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of gate areas, key buildings, and perimeter routes to help to deter unauthorized access and/or identify hazards, damaged fencing, or suspicious activity.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A valid driver's license is required in the state where the job is located.
  • Applicants must have 1+ years' law enforcement experience OR 2+ years' security supervisor/manager experience OR 3+ years' security experience.
  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • At this site there are limited on-site facilities such as portable toilets and a rustic guard shack.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
