Department Information The Student and Campus Event Centers at Georgia Institute of Technology are dedicated to enhancing the student experience by providing a wide range of programs, services, and facilities. Our mission is to foster a vibrant campus community through the coordination and support of student activities, leadership development, and event management. We oversee the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for all students and other campus constituents, managing the operation of programming spaces and advising programming board committees. Our team interacts with students, student leaders, student employees, registered student organizations, fellow staff members across campus, faculty, and external clients in the Atlanta community. Key components of our department include: Student Leadership Development: We advise students in planning large-scale social, educational, traditions, and stress-relief programs through the student event programming board. Event Management: Our staff advises student event planners through one-on-one meetings, committee meetings, and on-site event execution. Collaboration and Engagement: We promote interactions between faculty and students, foster collaboration among students, enhance campus and civic engagement, and ease both the academic and social transition to college. Job Summary
The Director-Facilities & Operations Student & Campus Event Center role is a unit leader, focused on cultivating spaces and opportunities on campus that promote student belonging and community engagement. This position is responsible for the comprehensive organization, administration, and management of event services, operations, and custodial services for various campus venues. The role combines strategic planning, financial management, facilities oversight, team leadership, and participation in emergency management to ensure a safe and expressive environment aligned with the institution's values. Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 - Serve on the department's leadership team, which assists in providing strategic direction for the overall functions of the operations. Advise and collaborate with leadership to establish strategic goals and make informed decisions. Collaborate with Division Leadership to establish strategic goals and make informed decisions.
Job Duty 2 - Direct the vision and goals for the operations and event reservation team, covering hiring, onboarding, training, and assessment for all staff.
Job Duty 3 - Play a key role in designing and implementing a strategic plan for the department, encompassing renovation, renewal, sustainability, and capital improvement.
Job Duty 4 - Establish and manage the operating budget in consultation with the leadership team. Evaluate current event costs and services, making recommendations on rate and price increases when necessary.
Job Duty 5 - Assist in the oversight of maintenance activities in assigned facilities and coordinate with campus facilities teams. Direct and administer the development and training of emergency protocols for the department.
Job Duty 6 - Delegate and manage teams that oversee small- and large-scale complex event services activities from reservation process through event completion and assessment.
Job Duty 7 - Oversee a fleet of vehicles; and responsible including use, maintenance, and replacement as required. Oversee access control for events, in collaboration with campus partners. Job Duty 8 - Provide training and development for professional and student staff to ensure adequate skill development, cohesiveness, effective communication, and professionalism. Develop and direct policies for the department. Ensure personnel are current with necessary certifications, training, and safety policies.
Job Duty 9 - Develop and sustain partnerships with various campus partners to meet the departmental mission and goals and align with Institute strategic priorities.
Job Duty 10 - Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Other Required Qualifications Required Certifications, Licenses or Permits: Valid State of Georgia Driver's License or the ability to attain one
Required Experience Eight to ten years of job-related experience
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications Master's Degree in Student Affairs Administration or Facility Management

ABILITIES The ability to handle heavy objects weighing up 50 pounds or more
KNOWLEDGE o Previous student union experience; facility management experience; use of event management systems o Advanced knowledge of facility management; strong knowledge of event and operations management, project management, and fiscal accountability
SKILLS o Advanced skills in written and verbal communication, training, organization, budget, and customer service; moderate skills in supervision, use of Microsoft Office products, and problem-solving o Strong demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse population, handle a fast-paced environment and embrace change with flexibility, prioritize, give great attention to details, and work independently

Salary range: $122,000.00 - $128,000.00 Location: Atlanta, GA Job grade: A12 This is a supervisory position. This position does not have any financial responsibilities. This position will not be required to drive. This role is considered a position of trust. This position does not require a purchasing card (P-Card).
