Job Summary

The Compliance Specialist is responsible for providing support for the organization's compliance program(s) to ensure adherence to federal and state laws, organizational policies, University System of GA policies, and federal contractual requirements. This includes providing risk assessments, tracking and resolving compliance-related concerns, interpreting legal guidance, and assisting in developing/implementing policies, procedures, and training.

This position will interact on a regular basis with: Organizational leadership, project stakeholders, faculty and staff, and ethics and compliance teams

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 - Provide risk analysis and support for complex research and development projects to ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational regulations
Job Duty 2 - Assess and implement risk mitigation strategies and process improvements to compliance activities
Job Duty 3 - Collaborate closely with unit leadership and operational/project teams to resolve compliance issues
Job Duty 4 - Document activities or processes to track compliance of organizational processes or functions; identify gaps in documentation, or potential areas of non-compliance, and suggest resolutions
Job Duty 5 - Conduct moderately complex audits; prepare reports summarizing audit findings, and make suggestions to management for resolution; interface with external stakeholders, as required
Job Duty 6 - Contribute to ongoing development of compliance policies, programs, and stakeholder training
Job Duty 7 - Track and interpret updates in policies, laws, or regulations impacting the organization, and provide suggestions to operational and project leadership to ensure compliance
Job Duty 8 - Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Up to two years of job-related experience

Proposed Salary

Salary Range - $63,303 - $86,091 Annually

Requires the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; think critically; and solve moderately complex problems, applying organizational policies and state/federal regulatory guidance

KNOWLEDGE
Requires knowledge of applicable guidelines and governmental regulations

Requires strong skills in customer service and communication (verbal and written), organization, and project management

Other Information

This job requires an individual with a minimum 4 years of experience with monitoring, interpreting, and ensuring adherence to applicable federal laws, regulations, and institutional policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will possess working knowledge of internal controls, strong analytical skills to assess compliance risks, review documentation, and support corrective action efforts as needed. Proficiency with compliance-related software (or similar systems) and the ability to identify internal controls and work independently are essential for success in this position.
