Summer Engineering Intern

Description

a.i. solutions is looking for highly-motivated engineering summer interns to support the NASA Launch Services Program at Kennedy Space Center. The Interns will be assigned to positions in the Vehicle Engineering and Analysis (VE&A) department performing tasks related to commercial launch vehicle systems and supporting our NASA customer. The roles and responsibilities cover a range of engineering disciplines supporting analysis and Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V). The successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to embrace the a.i. solutions mission and work to continually exceed the expectations of our customers.

The internship will run from Monday, May 18th to Friday, August 14th.

The following engineering positions are being staffed for this year's summer intern program:

Essential Roles & Responsibilities:

Guidance, Navigation, and Control Engineer:



  • Implement and test plant models in existing MATLAB Simulink launch vehicle 6DOF simulation environment (e.g. propulsion, actuators, sensors)
  • Implement and test flight software modeling for new and existing launch vehicles
  • Support upgrades to existing launch vehicle data review tools
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink programming is highly desirable
  • Experience with Linux, bash scripts, Tortoise SVN, JIRA, Confluence is desirable
  • Pursuit of a college degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical engineering


Mechanical Ground Support Engineer:



  • Provide technical assessment of launch vehicle and ground systems
  • Review engineering drawings (P&ID's, mechanical drawings, etc.) to understand system operation
  • Evaluate fluid system operation data to assess system performance
  • Interpreting and verifying compliance with engineering specifications, technical requirements, and safety requirements
  • Experience with cryogenic, pneumatic, HVAC, and/or hydraulic systems is a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Office including Visio preferred
  • Pursuit of a college degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering



Launch Vehicle Electrical Engineer:



  • Read system level diagrams and high-level electrical schematics and translate them to effective displays for monitoring the health and status of electrical ground/control systems
  • Develop software tools to efficiently gather, organize, display, and analyze ground system data
  • Experience with Python programming is highly desirable
  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence, OneNote is desirable
  • Pursuit of a college degree in Electrical / Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering or Physics


Launch Vehicle Avionics Engineer:



  • Develop software tools to efficiently gather, organize, display, and analyze launch vehicle avionics system data
  • Read system level diagrams and high-level electrical schematics and translate them to effective displays for monitoring the health and status of avionics control systems
  • Experience with Python, or MATLAB, or C programming is highly desirable
  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence, OneNote is desirable
  • Pursuit of a college degree in Electrical / Aerospace / Software Engineering


Structural Loads Analyst:



  • Perform structural analysis to predict dynamic loads in launch vehicle and spacecraft structures
  • Review/process flight accelerometer data to compare against loads predictions and structural limits
  • Experience and/or coursework in Linear (Matrix) Algebra, Mechanical Vibrations, and/or Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is highly desirable
  • Experience and/or coursework in Python is highly desirable
  • Pursuit of a college degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Civil (Structural) Engineering


At the conclusion of the internship, all students will document and present their project(s) including methodologies, procedures, software, and results to their mentors, colleagues, and engineering management.

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Enrolled full time for Fall 2026
  • U.S. Citizenship required
