Job Family Environmental Discipline Environmental / Regulatory Compliance Engineering Career Level P3 Salary Range $80,160 - $112,416 Note for Salary This is the range within which SRNS expects the majority of qualified candidates would enter this role if offered. Actual offers may be more or less than the amounts shown depending on candidate's qualifications, experience, internal equity, and other factors. Job Family Description Environmental personnel monitor and assess environmental conditions to ensure compliance with regulations and internal requirements, promote environmental protection, and minimize environmental impacts from new projects and ongoing operations. They conduct environmental impact assessments, collect and analyze data related to air, water and soil quality, and recommend strategies to minimize environmental impact. They develop environmental management plans, and study contaminated sites. Discipline Description Environmental/Regulatory Compliance Engineers provide engineering support for environmental systems in operating facilities and across the entire site. They identify system concepts and determine system functional and technical requirements, conduct process analyses, monitor system performance, and troubleshoot and resolve problems and ensure operation within technical, regulatory and safety basis requirements. They propose and develop process/system improvements including equipment upgrades, and plant modifications, prepare modification input documents, provides technical input (e.g., for procedure development), approve work packages, and advise operations/maintenance/project management for optimizing day-to-day operations. They may conduct major technical alternative studies, CERCLA/RCRA studies. Environmental/regulatory compliance engineers develop complex environmental systems, applications, and procedures, conduct investigations, and prepare remediation work plans and reports for complex projects. They conduct analyses or tests required for complex technical problems. They also review and analyze environmental documentation issued by regulatory agencies, evaluate proposed regulations to determine financial, industrial, public, and environmental impact, and work with external regulators to resolve compliance issues. Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in relevant field plus at least five years of experience (YOE) in a relevant role, OR Master's degree in relevant field plus at least two years of experience (YOE), OR Doctoral degree in relevant field We'd Also Like to See Previous experience with RCRA regulations and implementation; hazardous waste management, including generation, treatment, storage, and disposal; and RCRA permit applications is preferred. Knowledge of waste disposal requirements for various regulated waste streams (i.e., asbestos, solid and hazardous waste, infectious waste, PCBs, etc.). Security Clearance Information SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
