DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Alcohol Education Specialist, you will work directly with individuals to plan, design, and implement programs, trainings, and initiatives to reduce underage and dangerous drinking as well as promote responsible consumption by those of legal age to consume alcohol. You will also be assisting the supervisor of the Bureau of Alcohol Education's Education and Grants Management Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. Additional responsibilities include:
- Conveying, interpreting, and explaining grant services, objectives, policies, and procedures to organizations, advisory board members, staff, other agencies, legislators, professional associates, and others as requested
- Reviewing and scoring grant applications to determine adherence to requirements
- Monitoring and evaluating grantee performance through the review of reports and fiscal expenditures
- Reviewing and monitoring grant expenditures by utilizing spreadsheets and databases to make budgetary projections
- Monitoring the grantee's expenditure of funds to ensure fiscal accountability and accuracy
- Establishing, directing, and monitoring objectives and activities associated with the grants
- Conducting site visits as needed to monitor compliance with grant agreements as deemed necessary

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Flexibility is needed to work varying days including weekends.
- Travel is required.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 4 days per week. You will be required to report one day per week to the Northwest Office Building in Harrisburg. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Successful completion of the Alcohol Education Specialist Trainee program(Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- One year of professional teaching, classroom instruction, or formal training experience, and a bachelor's degree; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of professional teaching, classroom instruction, or formal training experience.
Other Requirements:

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation. An applicant with a felony conviction within the last ten years of their prospective date of employment is not permitted to work for the PLCB, per section 210(c) of the Pennsylvania Liquor Code. Other criminal convictions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
