Summary

The Specialist, Media Sales is a revenue-driving, client-facing role responsible for business development, account management, and sales execution across AMPP's integrated portfolio of media, conference, sponsorship, and digital products. The role owns key accounts and manages multiple product lines while actively developing new business across core verticals in alignment with AMPP's mission to advance materials protection, performance, and workforce development globally.

This position requires a consultative seller who understands complex B2B environments, can navigate multiple stakeholders, and can position integrated media, sponsorship, and event solutions that deliver measurable ROI. The Specialist, Media Sales serves as a trusted partner to clients while collaborating internally across marketing, events, publishing, and growth teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (Other Duties as Assigned)

Media Sales, Revenue Generation & Business Development




  • Identify, develop, and close new domestic and global revenue opportunities across AMPPs media, conference products, sponsorships, digital platforms, and integrated campaigns.





  • Execute consultative, value-based selling strategies aligned to client business objectives and industry trends.





  • Sell across multiple platforms and products, including print, digital, website, email, event sponsorships, conference products, and bundled media solutions.





  • Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue goals.





  • Develop scalable account and territory-level sales plans supporting regional, national, and international programs.




Vertical Market & Portfolio Oversight




  • Actively manage and grow business across AMPP's priority verticals of Maritime, Oil & Gas, Workforce Development, and Civil Infrastructure by maintaining a strong understanding of customer needs, industry dynamics, competitive landscape, and emerging trends.





  • Positions AMPP's products and services as strategic solutions tailored to vertical-specific challenges and opportunities.




Key Account Management & Client Relationships




  • Serve as a key account holder for assigned accounts, managing multiple products, and long-term client relationships.





  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with senior-level decision-makers, brand leaders, and agency contacts.





  • Develop formal account plans with clear growth strategies for assigned key accounts.





  • Lead proposal development, pricing strategy, contract negotiation, and renewals through close.





  • Deliver high-quality, customized proposals while managing multiple opportunities simultaneously.




Sales Planning, Pipeline Management & CRM Discipline




  • Build and actively manage a monthly and quarterly prospect list, converting prospects into long-term customers.





  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of all sales activity, meetings, proposals, and pipeline updates in AMPP's designated CRM system; CRM accuracy and pipeline hygiene are core performance expectations for this role.





  • Utilize data, performance metrics, and ROI modeling to support client recommendations and investment decisions.





  • Forecast revenue and report on pipeline health, risks, and opportunities.




Cross-Functional Collaboration & Brand Growth




  • Partner with publishing, marketing, events, and other internal teams to deliver integrated, brand-aligned solutions.





  • Support conferences and major events through revenue-generating sponsorship sales, exhibitor engagement, and pre-and post-event sales strategies.





  • Contribute to brand-building initiatives that expand AMPP's reach beyond traditional industry segments.




Industry Awareness & Continuous Improvement




  • Maintain current knowledge of media trends, digital advertising, sponsorship activation, and performance metrics through ongoing internal and external training to strengthen sales effectiveness and product expertise




Supervisory Responsibilities

This role does not have direct supervisory responsibility but is expected to demonstrate leadership through influence, collaboration, and accountability.

Qualifications

Education & Experience




  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Marketing, Business, Communications, Advertising, Journalism, or related field.





  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in media sales, advertising sales, sponsorship sales, conference sales, or related B2B commercial roles.





  • Demonstrated success managing key accounts and selling multi-product portfolios.





  • Digital media and integrated campaign sales experience is strongly preferred.




Required Skills & Competencies




  • Consultative selling and relationship-building skills, with the ability to assess needs and deliver customized, ROI-driven solutions.





  • Experience managing pipelines, forecasting, and client activity using CRM systems.





  • Ability to manage multiple accounts, products, and sales cycles simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.





  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proposal development and client presentations.





  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret performance data, pricing models, and revenue metrics.





  • High level of professionalism, organization, and follow-through.




TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS

Expected travel is approximately 20-30%, including domestic and occasional international travel.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical and scientific concepts into clear, credible content for executives, industry professionals, volunteer leaders, and global partners. Demonstrated experience drafting and editing high-quality editorial content, strategic communications, and executive-level materials, and presenting concise, high-impact information to senior and international stakeholders.

MATHEMATICAL & ANALYTICAL SKILLS

Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including the ability to interpret budgets, forecasts, P&L results, and performance metrics related to publication revenue and engagement. Applies pricing, ROI, and trend analysis to evaluate performance, inform strategy, and optimize the publications portfolio.

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex information, manage competing priorities, and adapt in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated effectiveness in cross-functional collaboration within a matrixed organization. Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM-related systems, with a high degree of professionalism, sound judgment, adaptability, and discretion when working with clients, internal teams, and external partners.
