Responsibilities

Employee may be required to float to the other facility within Bradenton Cardiology based on operational needs, with appropriate orientation and competency validation provided.

An Echo Tech is responsible for performing 2D and 3D adult transthoracic echocardiogram exams, composing preliminary studies for the physicians and immediately notifying physicians of any clinical findings.

Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs echocardiography which involves the ability to distinguish various cardiac structures and determine the quality of the tracings obtained.
  • Performs advanced tests, such as 2-D, 3D, LV strain and M-mode echocardiograms and Doppler studies and occasional use of agitated saline.
  • We use Epic Philips machines.
  • Obtain pertinent clinical information to help generate cardiology reports for review.
  • Responds calmly and effectively to cardiovascular emergencies that may occur during testing.
  • Helps to set up and maintain the echo lab.
  • Help occasionally with receiving calls, patients and queries skillfully.
  • Responsible for performing diagnostic echocardiograms, testing and completion of reports.
  • Reviews, collects, and evaluates relevant clinical data.
  • Identifies patient's requirements relative to their age specific needs. Explains test procedure to patient and family members present.
  • Assess patient, their need and ability to tolerate procedure.
  • Implements alternative methods or adjusts controls to obtain optimal views.
  • Takes appropriate actions during patient emergency situations and insures patient safety at all times.
  • Provides technical assistance to physician as required. Prepares a preliminary report for interpreting physician making all necessary calculations and notations.
  • Checks and corrects malfunctions and performs quality controls on echocardiography equipment.
  • Coordinates the clinical activities on a designated shift, as required.
  • Documents all pertinent data on the patient's medical record following completion of any service.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the differences in techniques and procedure modalities as performed on patients of varying ages.

Job Requirements:

  • Graduate of a Cardiovascular Technology program or equivalent formal training if certified. College level courses in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology preferred.
  • 2-4 years of work experience preferred.
  • RDCS or RCS registry eligible; Must obtain registry within one year of hire.
  • BLS certifications required.
