PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees/develops clinical education opportunities to support the strategic objectives of the Patient Care and/or Surgical Services division and the Hospital
  • Oversees/develops Patient Care, Surgical Services, and/or Nursing orientation.
  • Oversees the development of the NSH Patient Care and/or Surgical Services Internship programs.
  • Collaborates with Clinical Nurse Specialists to conduct needs assessments to identify Patient Care and/or Surgical Services employee clinical education requirements.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources and Patient Care and/or Surgical Services Nursing leadership in the planning of internships.
  • Coordinates and participates in the selection process of intern candidates in collaboration with HR and Patient Care and/or Surgical Services Nursing leadership.
  • Develops programs to provide centralized, uniform clinical education programs in collaboration with Patient Care and/or Surgical Services Management & Leadership staff.
  • Coordinates Patient Care and/or Surgical Services aspects of new hire orientation. Collaborates with Training & Development, CNS/Clinicians/CDSs, and Ancillary Department Clinicians to develop presentations (ensuring content is comprehensive and up-to-date) and to schedule instructors. Ensures continuity of content between division-wide and unit-based orientation
  • Supports Clinical Nurse Specialists, Clinicians, and Clinical Development Specialists in the development and teaching of Patient Care and/or Surgical Services Nurse Internship programs. Ensures consistency across campuses.
  • Develops and provides education to staff as needed.
  • Develops efficient system to ensure communication regarding current Patient Care and/or Surgical Services policies, procedures, and standards of practice and documentation systems.
  • Collaborates with appropriate departments to identify consumer & patient educational needs; assists with program implementation as appropriate.
  • Supports Coordinator, Patient Care RRA in developing relationships with targeted Nursing & Technical schools. Serves as clinical advisor for student rotations.
  • In collaboration with Clinical Nurse Specialists, Clinicians, Clinical Development Specialists, and Unit Leadership, develops effective relationships with Medical Staff to support & enhance clinical education opportunities.
  • Collects and analyzes data & measures effectiveness for all educational offerings.
  • Develops programs to provide CQI education in collaboration with Training & Development & Quality Improvement Department.
  • Collects & analyzes data & measures effectiveness for all educational offerings

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Other duties as assigned by supervision.

REQUIRED

  • Current RN Licensure in the state of Georgia.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing, Education or health-related field.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Two (2) years bedside nursing experience.
  • Demonstrated skills in instruction and clinical training development

PREFERRED

  • Nursing certification in specialty area.
  • Two (2) years of critical care experience.
