Job Summary

The Harness Board Assembler is responsible for building high-density wire-to-board assemblies by interpreting complex wiring diagrams and engineering drawings. This role involves cutting wires to precise lengths, terminating contacts, installing connectors, and torquing backshells in accordance with Class 3 IPC/WHMA-A-620E-S standards. The position requires strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to consistently produce high-quality assemblies in a production environment.

Job Responsibilities




  • Build high-density wire-to-board harness assemblies using harness boards and engineering documentation.



  • Interpret complex wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings accurately.



  • Cut wires to precise lengths and maintain strict wire-cut tolerance requirements.



  • Crimp and terminate contacts using approved crimping tools, including Molex and Daniels tools.



  • Install connectors and torque backshells to specification.



  • Perform continuity testing, insulation testing, soldering, and torque verification.



  • Ensure all assemblies meet Class 3 IPC/WHMA-A-620E-S workmanship standards.



  • Achieve high first-pass yield and support on-time delivery commitments.



  • Support prototype builds and continuous improvement initiatives.



  • Follow all safety, quality, and production procedures in a manufacturing environment.




Job Requirements




  • Minimum of two years of hands-on harness board assembly experience.



  • Strong proficiency using manual and pneumatic crimping tools.



  • Ability to perform continuity and insulation testing.



  • Experience with soldering and torque verification processes.



  • Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards; Class 3 experience required.



  • Ability to read and interpret detailed wiring diagrams and engineering drawings.



  • Ability to sit or stand at a harness board for extended periods, up to a full shift.



  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds safely.



  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.




Education




  • High school diploma or equivalent required.




Work Experience




  • Two or more years of direct experience assembling wire harnesses on harness boards in a production or prototype environment.
