Job Description
Responsible for ensuring all Armaments and Munitions testing assignments are completed, including those that are not completely standardized or prescribed.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Performs technical work in support of Armaments and Munitions, which requires the ability to select and adapt established methods, procedures, and techniques relative to the testing of large caliber (>40-mm) weapon systems, accessories and ammunition, mine and countermine systems, munition fragmentation and hazard classification, mortars, recoilless rifles, and non-lethal systems (i.e., flash-bang device, beanbag, personnel and vehicle restraint systems, etc.)
* Performs standard or non-standard tasks related to test setup, test execution, test teardown, test item disposition, range maintenance, and facility operation independently
* Extracts information from field notes, manuals, and test plans, as well as research other sources to accomplish assigned tasks
* Operates and sets up weapon, to include firing, weapon maintenance, operator level ammunition inspection, assembly/construction/setup of targets, target stands, fragmentation arenas, and witness packs
* Installs basic instrumentation on test items and targets
* Operates and maintains specialized facility equipment, such as mounts, muzzle and breech scopes/sights, quadrants, pressure gauges, survey equipment, rigging, weapon firing mechanisms, fragmentation collection, cleaning and characterization equipment, and weapon and ammunition accountability systems
* Transports equipment, stowage, and ammunition to/around the test site
* Disassembles/demilitarizes targets
* Operates tools, vehicles, and equipment
* Collects data from ballistics instrumentation (i.e., video scoring, velocity measurement, flash x-ray, etc.).
* Records test procedures and data, and reviews data records and reports for accuracy, trends, and procedure improvements
Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications

* Must have 5 years applicable experience firing weapons or equivalent test and evaluation range experience or at least 60 credit hours or an associate's degree and 3 years applicable experience; or 30 credit hours and 4 years applicable experience; or completion of a formal training program and 3 years applicable experience; or a bachelor's degree and 1-year applicable experience
* Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class C, with Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) endorsement within 6 months of employment
* Must present a current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC) issued by a certified medical provider listed on the National Register of Certified Medical Examiners
* Subject to pre-employment and ongoing Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) checks to confirm a safe driving history
* Must pass a DOT-compliant pre-employment drug screen and participate in an employer-administered drug and alcohol testing program, which includes:
* Random testing
* Post-accident testing
* Reasonable suspicion testing
* Return-to-duty and follow-up testing (if applicable)
* Must consent to a full query of the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse prior to hire, and to annual limited queries during employment
* Must report any CDL suspensions, disqualifications, or convictions for traffic violations in accordance with Federal regulations
* Must know and follow state and federal commercial vehicle regulations enforced by the Federal
* Motor Carrier Safety Administration and Department of Transportation
* Shall possess a license to operate forklift(s) and other required support equipment
* Shall possess a clearance for unaccompanied access to Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives (AA&E) within 6 months of employment

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

* The work of this position is performed in the field where you are subject to the environment and sometimes in an environmentally controlled office environment
* Must be capable of lifting 110 pounds chest high unassisted repeatedly during the day
* Must be able to lift and transport 110 pounds unassisted over uneven ground for 50 feet
* Must be capable of frequent squatting, crouching, and stooping
* Must be tolerant of frequent weapons systems firings
* Must be able to visually distinguish colors
* Must be able to ascend and descend equipment
* Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks assigned

Terms of Employment & Eligibility Requirements

* Must be a U.S. Citizen
* Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
* Must possess a valid driver's license, without special restrictions
* Must pass a pre-employment drug screening periodic retest
* Must be able to successfully complete a background screening
* Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance prior to employment and maintain security clearance for the duration of employment

Rate of Pay/Benefits

Hourly Rate: $50.61
