Job Summary: The Community Health Specialist is a non-clinical, hourly role that supports the Cancer Resource Center's programs, including monthly peer support groups and quarterly Oncology Patient Advisory Council meetings. Reporting to the Center Manager, this position fosters an inclusive and resource-rich environment for participants.

Major Responsibilities:



  • Facilitate Support Groups: Plan and implement monthly breast cancer support groups, utilizing personal experiences to create a supportive atmosphere with guest speakers and collaborative learning.
  • Provide Referrals: Assess participant needs and refer them to Center staff for counseling, navigation, and integrative health services.
  • Collaborate on Logistics: Partner with administrative staff to schedule groups and maintain accurate attendance records.
  • Resource Management: Stay informed about community resources to ensure timely and appropriate support for participants.
  • Promote Engagement: Actively participate in initiatives that strengthen community ties and collaboration within the Center.

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues.
  • Maintain punctuality and attendance as per hospital policy.

Skills & Abilities Required:



  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem-solving ability and effective presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer systems.


Education & Experience:



  • High school diploma or GED; interest in public or community health.
  • Experience in community settings preferred, along with teamwork capability and multicultural engagement.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, Korean, or Chinese is a plus.


Licenses & Certifications:



  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Health-related license or certification desired.


Salary Range: Minimum 27.00/hour - Maximum 27.00/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
