Job Description

About us- Cognex is the largest, most successful and recognized global player in industrial machine vision! We are a financially strong, international company with no debt and have been in business for over 40 years. Using advanced optics, image sensors and artificial intelligence software Cognex vision and ID systems capture an image then analyze it to make sense of what's being seen. We are deeply committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable work environment, guided by our "Work Hard, Play Hard, Move Fast" culture, which celebrates employee innovation, determination, and dedication in a dynamic, fun, and distinctive atmosphere.

We are working on a hybrid schedule, 3 days in the office, 2 at home.

As a Product Marketing Manager at Cognex, you will bridge the gap between our industry-leading machine vision technology and the B2B buyers evaluating our solutions. You will define product positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategies while supporting the creation of high-impact content that clearly communicates our products' value to prospective customers. This role blends technical understanding, strategic marketing, and the ability to translate technical concepts into impactful product marketing for industrial B2B audiences.

This role will report to the Senior Manager of Content Marketing and will be a part of our Global Marketing team.

Key Responsibilities

Product Positioning & Messaging

  • Develop and refine compelling product messaging that resonates with B2B buyers at all stages of the decision journey.

  • Translate complex technical functionality into clear, customer-focused value propositions.

  • Support product launches with go-to-market strategies, messaging frameworks, and positioning tools.

Market & Competitive Insights

  • Gather market intelligence, analyze trends, and track competitor offerings to inform positioning and strategic initiatives.

  • Provide actionable insights to Sales, Product Management, and Marketing teams to drive competitive advantage.

Content Enablement (Strategic & Hands-On)

  • Own the creation of technical sales enablement assets (datasheets, solution briefs, case studies, presentations, videos)

  • Ensure technical accuracy and clarity in content that supports decision-making and accelerates the sales cycle.

Sales Enablement & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product Management and Sales to align messaging and go-to-market strategies.

  • Educate internal teams on product value, positioning, and differentiation in a way that is practical and actionable.

Performance & Optimization

  • Track adoption and effectiveness of product marketing materials and campaigns.

  • Use data-driven insights to refine messaging, positioning, and future go-to-market strategies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Engineering, Communications, or related technical discipline.

  • 10+ years of experience in product marketing, preferably within B2B technology or industrial automation.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives for technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong analytical, strategic, and project management skills.

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with experience influencing cross-functional teams.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a strategic product marketer who can shape clear, customer-facing narratives, understands how industrial or technical products are evaluated and purchased, and positions complex technology in a way that is credible, compelling, and easy to understand.

You are someone who:

  • Thinks in terms of positioning, differentiation, and go-to-market strategy - not just deliverables.

  • Enjoys digging into details, asking the right questions, and translating complexity into customer value.

  • Has experience partnering closely with Product Management to influence messaging, launches, and roadmap communication.

  • Balances big-picture strategy with hands-on execution, especially in fast-moving or resource-constrained environments.

  • Is collaborative, pragmatic, and comfortable influencing without formal authority.

Experience in industrial automation, machine vision, robotics, or adjacent B2B technology markets is a strong plus, but not required for someone who can quickly learn new technical domains.
