Job Description

Position Responsibilities

  • Assures all plant safety/accident prevention policies are adhered to as stated in the co-worker handbook. This includes maintaining a safe work environment and safe work practices, and accident investigation when necessary. Holds co-workers accountable for non-compliance.
  • Ensures that housekeeping standards are met throughout the facility.
  • Supports the direction set forth by the shift supervisor.
  • Partners with the Shift Supervisor to communicate all performance issues. Trains all direct reports to follow all rules, programs and procedures. Coaches co-workers to ensure compliance.
  • Responsible for on-the-job training of co-workers. Instructs new or reassigned co-workers in the safe and efficient operation of equipment.
  • Observes production operation within area of control to ascertain compliance with quality, safety, production standards, work rules, and efficient operation of equipment. Implements effective corrective actions and recommends preventative safety, production and quality measures.
  • Reports potential production downtime, scrap production, and quality of each machine under the supervisor's responsibility and summarizes data from shift.
  • Provides input to Shift Supervisor on all operators on a continuous basis for performance evaluation, corrective action and action plan purposes.
  • Promotes and fosters a positive work environment for overall co-worker engagement. Fosters teamwork.
  • Responsible for proposing and actively participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Trains current and new members of the department to perform job related tasks as needed.
  • Learns new on the job skills as training opportunities become available.
  • Directly supports the supervisor of the production shift. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training co-workers; planning, assigning and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Position Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, some college. Bachelor's Degree In Organizational Leadership and Supervision or 3 to 5 years of experience in production environment preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Level of Authority
