Responsibilities:

  • Classify imported products for Harmonized Tariff System (HTS) codes and exported products for Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN), Schedule B numbers, and determine licensing requirements.

  • Assess additional tariffs imposed under various authorities, including the International Economic Emergency Powers Act (IEEPA), and Sections 301 and 232.

  • Ensure compliance with participating government agency (PGA) requirements including the Food and Drug Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, and others.

  • Perform sanctioned ownership and restricted party screening of parties involved in international transactions via the use of third-party screening tools.

  • Maintain SAP S/4 HANA system databases with accurate import and export information.

  • Manuals. Support the upkeep of the company's written internal compliance policies and programs.

  • Training. Participate in the planning, development, and execution of trade compliance webinars.

  • Audits. Execute audits by issuing questionnaires, conducting meetings, sampling transactions for compliance and generating reports.

  • Newsletters and newsflashes. Generate ideas and compose content for Hitachi's quarterly import/export newsletter and newsflashes, as warranted.

  • Drive process improvements and investigate cost savings.

  • Provide consulting services for other Hitachi group companies. Perform administrative and planning duties as needed by the department.

Qualifications:

  • 4 - 8 years of experience in import and/or export compliance field.

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, trade compliance or related field preferred.

  • Experience using global trade management platforms (e.g., Visual Compliance).

  • Experience with Automated Export Systems (AES) filings with U.S. Census Bureau.

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.

  • Customs broker license a plus.

For residents of New York City, New York, California, Washington, Ohio and Illinois as required under applicable pay transparency laws, the expected salary range for this position if filled remotely is $86,263 - $107,829. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area. Employees are eligible to participate in Hitachi America's variable pay program, subject to the program's conditions and restrictions.
