We are seeking a dedicated Anesthesia Technician to join our team, working the day shift from 6am to 2:30pm. This position requires flexibility to work holidays, weekends, and be on-call as needed. The start date for this role is 12/22.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Assist in the care of patients undergoing anesthesia by preparing anesthesia equipment before the patient's arrival, placing anesthesia monitors, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring the availability of specialized equipment and supplies.
- Communicate continuously with anesthesiologists, residents, CRNAs, and anesthesia technologists to meet their needs throughout the day. Assist clinicians with difficult intubations and the placement of central line catheters.
- Operate the cell-saver machine, track lab reports, and participate in advanced surgical cases such as cardiac, liver transplant, vascular, thoracic, and trauma cases. Provide on-call coverage as needed.
- Ensure anesthesia equipment is in good working order and preventive maintenance is completed. Set up and operate sophisticated equipment and perform advanced troubleshooting.
- Assist the Chief Anesthesia Technologist in developing and implementing in-service training programs. Help train staff in the roles and responsibilities of an anesthesia technologist.
- Perform anesthesia equipment setup and troubleshooting, including testing infusion pumps, nerve stimulators, defibrillators, and transport monitors, calibrating anesthesia machines, and attaching fiberoptic bronchoscopes to video monitors.
- Set up rooms between cases, manage carts throughout the day, and provide full-service setup at the end of the day. Work with other hospital units to ensure the availability of specialized anesthesia equipment. Support ectopic procedures for anesthesia care.
- Provide backup to the shift supervisor in their absence due to vacation or illness. Perform other duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor, Chief Anesthesia Technologist, or Operations Manager.
Required Qualifications:
- BLS certification
- Two years of experience as an Anesthesia Tech
Preferred Qualifications:
- A four-year college education, including related technical training, or a two-year college education with technical training closely related to this position and two years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certification by the registry of the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists or another nationally recognized professional certifying body.
Skills:
- Two (2) Year's Experience highly desired
- BLS preferred (American Heart Association ONLY)
- TB Skin Test required
