POSITION SPECIFICS The Ryan Family Student Center (RFSC) within the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences at Penn State University Park is seeking a highly motivated Academic Adviser to join our team. The RFSC is the home for undergraduate activities in the College-academic advising and learning support, career counseling, support for student engagement, studying and collaborating-it's a busy and exciting place. Responsibilities:
MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS If filled as Academic Adviser - Principal Professional, this position requires: Master's Degree 8+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None If filled as Academic Adviser - Senior Professional, this position requires: Master's Degree 6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: NonePosition will be filled within the academic adviser career field at a level consistent with the candidate's education and relevant experience. Significant experience in academic advising, teaching, counseling, or related fields is valued. The ability to retain some evening hours (approximately biweekly) in the Ryan Family Student Center is required. A dedication to empowering students and building meaningful relationships with advisees, as well as attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team are fundamental to success in this position. The employee will communicate and collaborate with multiple university offices as well as the five EMS departments, serve on university committees as appropriate, and represent the values of Penn State and EMS in all that they do.
