Position Description

Position Overview:

This internship provides an immersive experience within the Major Projects Department, supporting Project Managers on large-scale mechanical and plumbing construction projects. Interns will gain hands-on exposure to project management practices, field operations, and construction technologies. The role is designed to prepare interns for future careers in project engineering by developing foundational skills in scheduling, document control, cost tracking, and field coordination.

What You'll Do:

  1. Project Support: Assist Project Managers with documentation, scheduling, and coordination tasks across multiple phases of major industrial projects.
  2. Field Exposure: Spend time on job sites to observe construction sequencing, safety practices, and collaboration between field teams and project management.
  3. Procurement & Logistics: Help track deliveries and assist in the procurement of major equipment and subcontractor services.
  4. Document Control: Learn to manage project documents in compliance with company standards and contractual requirements.
  5. Estimating & Change Orders: Support the preparation of estimates and change orders under the guidance of the project team.
  6. Technical Review: Assist in reviewing drawings, specifications, and fabrication packages.
  7. Software Training: Gain exposure to industry-standard tools such as Bluebeam, Smartsheet, BIM360/Autodesk Construction Cloud, Revit, and Viewpoint (training provided).

Learning Opportunities:

  1. Understand the full lifecycle of major mechanical and plumbing projects.
  2. Learn how to forecast labor and material costs and track project budgets.
  3. Develop an understanding of construction sequencing and field coordination.
  4. Build relationships with superintendents, foremen, engineers, and detailers.
  5. Participate in internal planning meetings and client/vendor communications.
Position Requirements

Required Skills and Abilities:

  1. Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  2. Strong interest in large-scale construction and project management.
  3. Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  4. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn construction software platforms.
  5. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites.
