Responsibilities

  • Individuals within this job classification are accountable for providing nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse.
  • The Patient Care Technician (PCT) must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the unit and must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to function as the unit secretary on a patient care area.
  • The PCT will be responsible for activities of patient care which involve activities of daily living and must be able to work as a unit secretary to a busy patient care unit. As well as must be able to function as a Monitor Technician who observes and analyzes the cardiac rhythm of patients on telemetry and hardwire monitor under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.
  • The Monitor Technician must demonstrate competency in cardiac arrhythmia, accurate record keeping and logging.
  • He/she is expected to adhere to and abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the Oklahoma Nursing Practice Act.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
  • Age appropriate patient care and/or healthcare clerical experience.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Previous Nurse Aide or Unit Clerk experience.
