Description

Under the general supervision of the vascular surgeons, division administrator and clinic manager, provide clinical, and general administrative support for surgeons. Major functions include but are not limited to surgery scheduler for the multiple physicians, surgery scheduling for SMH, RRMCE, RRSC and Ambulatory procedure Unit (Gonda APU). Answering heavy telephone lines, request surgery authorizations to the insurance electronic portals and or call insurance directly, acting as a resource person to callers from within UCLA and outside providers; scheduling patient appointments; scheduling tests, procedures or other medical consultations as ordered by the surgeon. Act as a patient advocate in assessing and addressing patients' needs and communicating those needs to the surgeon for his review and input.

Compose and heavy typing of correspondence, assist to maintain surgeon's calendar and CARECONNECT clinic schedule, maintain patient and administrative files, processing of LVO's, PAC, recharges and travel reimbursements; provide administrative support for special events. Given the multiplicity of tasks, skill in setting priorities and responding to shifting deadlines and priorities is essential. Special projects as assigned by the surgeon and clinic manages and director.

Salary Range: $30.36- $43.49

Qualifications
  • Experience in surgery coordination, preferably in a surgical setting.
  • Proficiency in patient care appointment scheduling software EPIC and OUTLOOK.
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks like submiting surgery authorization rquest to insurance portals or calling insurance company directly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with patients, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to accommodate last-minute changes or emergencies.
  • Computer skills are a must.
