About the Job

Position Summary
* Assist with the proper installation and maintenance of all audiovisual equipment systems in classrooms, while utilizing industry safety procedures.
* Construct AV system equipment racks for installation according to current established departmental standards.
* Diagnose and implement proper repair procedures for all non-functioning audiovisual equipment in classrooms.
* Assist as directed with the training, development and coaching of other installation staff members.
* Assist in the fiscal viability of the installation area by implementing cost control and reduction steps.
* Review, complete and submit the proper paperwork on a timely basis for activities directly assigned.
* Assist other technicians and departmental personnel as necessary to achieve established departmental goals.

CTS is an onsite service provider, with a work expectation to be in-person, on campus

Essential Job Functions
Classroom technology: (75%)
* Install Data projection systems, audiovisual automation control systems, computer and Ethernet interfaces and associated media equipment.
* Build and install equipment racks, install and terminate cable, perform operational and quality verification testing of installed systems.
* Act as Lead Technician when assigned for Installation Projects in the 5 to 100k value range and higher value as skills dictate
* Act as Installation Project lead as assigned and review and approve all paperwork, labor hours and part utilization prior to submission for billing.
* As lead, assist with technicians assigned for adherence to CTS, OCM and University policies, procedures and standards.
* As lead, assist with technicians' development and review labor hours to accomplish project financial budget.
* When assigned as lead, clearly define CTS expectations and acceptable work standards, as established by CTS.

Customer Service: (10%)
* Build, foster and maintain positive individual customer relationships when working with all assigned CTS customers.
* Communicate with customers concerning the affected repairs and maintenance services performed and any pertinent information about their system operation beneficial to the customer.
* Solicit feedback when in contact with customers about the performance and overall satisfaction with their installed audiovisual system and report feedback to CTS managers.

Administrative: (10%)
* Coordinate proper completion and submission of all paperwork associated with daily direct assignments in accordance with established procedures.
* Complete and accurate submission of time card on a daily basis based on time spent on individual projects.
* Organize work area, equipment and procedures to maximize efficiency and organization. Assist other departmental personnel as necessary to achieve established departmental goals.
* Responsible for communicating effectively, and in a professional manner, with upper management as needed, about the operational issues involving their area.
* All other duties, as assigned by management.

Repairs: (5%)
* Isolate and repair AV systems in order to keep classroom instruction ongoing for faculty instructors.
* Work in an efficient manner when assigned a classroom repair to expedite repairs to keep classrooms functional

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
* Completion of a two-year technical school program related to electrical or mechanical systems plus a minimum of four year's work experience in this specialized field; or BS degree in electrical or
mechanical engineering and one year of related work experience. Equivalent combinations of academic and work experience in a related field may be substituted for the degree. Experience should include low voltage installation.
* Possess a valid current State of Minnesota Power Limited Technician license.
* Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and make sound low-voltage installation decisions in changing situations.
* Ability to incorporate new technology concepts and procedures into daily assigned installation and repair activities.
* Possess the verbal and written communication skills necessary to work with a wide variety of knowledge and skill levels.
* Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and keep all tasks moving forward at all times.
* Demonstrated ability to oversee employees in a productive and skill building manner.
* Ability to lift and carry up to 60 Lbs., climb ladders, bend, kneel, carry, distinguish colors and basic computer knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications (Core Competencies)
* Associate degree in electronics, or similar field.
* Ability to incorporate new technology concepts and procedures into daily assigned installation and repair activities.
* Verbal and written communication skills necessary to work with a wide variety of knowledge and skill levels.
* Some experience with standard laptop computer setup and software operation for Power Point Presentations and LCD image projection.

Pay Range: $32.32 - $34.28; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment
