About the Opportunity

WeWork is seeking a seasoned and dynamic Creative Director to lead our global design and creative efforts. Reporting directly to the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, this role will be instrumental in shaping and evolving WeWork's brand expression across all B2B and B2C touch points.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive global experience in leading and managing creative teams, developing impactful brand strategies, and executing integrated marketing campaigns that significantly contribute to overall business growth. They should bring a proven track record in performance marketing, developing and optimizing creative strategies and execution to drive acquisition and retention on a global scale. This role requires a strong background in art direction and design, with the ability to oversee and inspire a global team across all key creative aspects, including visual identity, content creation, campaign development, and digital experiences.

Responsibilities:

Creative Leadership & Vision

  • Lead and manage a global team of diverse creative talent, including graphic designers, copywriters, art directors, and video producers, elevating existing content and fostering a culture of creative excellence across both internal and external resources.

  • Develop, evolve, and rigorously enforce global brand guidelines to ensure consistency and impact across all WeWork brands and touch points.

  • Concept and create original, inspiring content that effectively communicates WeWork's vision and narrative across various mediums and global markets, aligning with strategic business objectives, delivering global campaigns that reflect cultural sensitivities and drive relevance to markets/regions.

  • Continuously evolve and push our design systems and visual identity, positioning WeWork as an industry leader and ensuring our brand remains innovative and relevant in a dynamic market.

  • Articulate the rationale behind design decisions and exhibit strong managerial skills to guide internal teams and external partners, crystallizing complex brands and product portfolios into simple concepts and compelling creative articulations.

Strategic Partnership & Business Alignment

  • Collaborate closely with the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer (CMO), recognizing the critical importance of this relationship to the Creative Director's success in shaping and evolving WeWork's brand expression.

  • Ensure all creative work reflects a deep understanding of the business, aligning with company goals and marketing strategy, and is always in service of WeWork's overarching business objectives.

Team Development & Mentorship

  • Provide hands-on feedback, mentorship, and guidance to the creative team, fostering their professional growth and development, and ensuring high-quality creative output.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and resourcefulness within the team, inspiring them to deliver exceptional results in fast-moving environments.

  • Build and nurture relationships, manage and mentor creatives, and align teams around a shared creative vision.

Strategic Execution & Accountability

  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including Brand Strategy, Performance Marketing, Sales, and Social Media teams, to deliver high-quality, scalable, on-brand materials that align with business goals and drive measurable results.

  • Oversee the translation of high-level concepts into actionable creative work, taking full ownership and accountability for driving projects from ideation through successful, on-time, and on-budget execution, including securing necessary approvals from key stakeholders.

  • Clearly articulate creative ideas and strategies to the global creative team and other internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment and buy-in for key initiatives.

  • Work at both a strategic and execution level within a matrixed organization, navigating complex cross-functional partnerships.

  • Create a performance-minded mindset for the Creative team to optimize performance with constant testing and adjustments to refine.

Innovation & Workflow Optimization

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscapes, including advancements in AI, to inform creative strategies and maintain WeWork's competitive edge.

  • Manage and optimize creative workflows and processes, leveraging AI-powered tools and methodologies, to maximize efficiency and productivity across the global creative team.

  • Be a thought leader on marketing techniques, trends, and best practices, devising solutions for new content needs that support user experience and product changes, demonstrating strong data literacy to inform creative decisions and measure impact.

About You
  • Educational Foundation: A Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in a related field.

  • Extensive Global Creative Leadership: 12-15+ years of progressive experience in art direction and design, with a proven track record of leading and inspiring global creative teams in both B2B and B2C environments.

  • Industry Expertise: Demonstrated experience in professional services, particularly within real estate or financial services, showcasing an understanding of complex market dynamics.

  • Strategic Brand & Performance Acumen: A deep understanding of global brand development and integrated marketing campaigns, with a strong emphasis on performance marketing and optimizing creative strategies for significant acquisition and retention on a global scale.

  • Exceptional Creative Vision: Possessing exceptional creative instincts and a comprehensive understanding of design principles, photography, compelling copy, and impactful video production.

  • Dynamic People Leadership: Strong leadership and people management skills, with a proven ability to oversee, mentor, and inspire diverse global teams to achieve creative excellence.

  • Strategic Project Management: Excellent time management skills and the ability to strategically manage multiple complex, high-stakes projects simultaneously under pressure, maintaining a calm and focused demeanor while ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery of high-impact creative.

  • Collaborative Leadership: A proven ability to forge strong, collaborative relationships with senior leadership and cross-functional partners, effectively influencing strategy and driving consensus to achieve shared business objectives.

  • Innovation & Adaptability: A proactive approach to staying abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies (including AI), and competitive landscapes, demonstrating the ability to integrate new methodologies to maintain a competitive edge and optimize creative workflows. Readily adapts to evolving market demands and organizational priorities.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Pay: $153,000 to $200,000 annually

Incentive Compensation: WeWork employees are eligible to participate in an incentive plan specific to their role. Your recruiter will detail what incentive plan is applicable to this specific role. WeWork incentive plans are subject to the terms of the applicable incentive compensation plan, which will be made available to you after commencing employment. WeWork reserves the right to amend its incentive plans, and nothing in this job requisition or any other document creates a right to a specific incentive plan payment.

Benefits: Full-time employees are eligible for comprehensive benefits (subject to the terms of applicable plans/policies/agreements, which will be made available to you after commencing employment), including 20 days of PTO, approximately 10 paid holidays, 80 hours of paid sick leave, 16 weeks paid parental leave, competitive healthcare benefits, 401K plan, Life & AD&D insurance.
