At Worley, we exist to deliver a more sustainable world. With nearly 50,000 people across 45 countries, we're bridging two worlds - accelerating towards more sustainable energy sources while helping our customers provide the energy, chemicals, and resources society needs now. We're problem solvers and innovators, working shoulder to shoulder with our customers to make sustainable transformation a reality.

Play an integral role in leading a global team that ensures materials and equipment are available, optimized, and controlled across complex, large-scale projects. As part of our materials management leadership group, you'll help shape how we deliver value across the full asset lifecycle - from concept to completion.

Purpose of the role

You will be responsible for managing and coordinating the distribution, control, and optimization of materials for production and project execution. You use deep analytical insight to determine optimum inventory and control levels, ensuring all materials and equipment are defined, quantified, and requisitioned in line with project schedules.

This role is central to keeping our projects moving - balancing efficiency, cost, and sustainability. You'll work closely with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to make sure every component arrives where and when it's needed, enabling Worley to deliver on our commitments to customers and communities around the world.

Core Responsibilities
  • Lead all material control activities on assigned projects, ensuring timely and accurate material definition, requisitioning, and distribution.

  • Develop and implement effective materials management strategies aligned with project execution plans.

  • Oversee materials planning, forecasting, and tracking to ensure accuracy, minimize surplus, and prevent shortages.

  • Collaborate with supply chain, logistics, and procurement teams to optimize sourcing and inventory levels.

  • Drive continuous improvement in material control processes, tools, and systems to enhance project efficiency.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to material control professionals, fostering collaboration and technical excellence across multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Ensure full compliance with Worley policies, standards, and procedures, while maintaining alignment with project governance and customer requirements.

  • Prepare and present progress reports, forecasts, and recommendations to senior management and project stakeholders.

  • Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies related to material availability, schedule alignment, and project cost control.

  • Contribute to digital transformation initiatives, leveraging data-centric tools and analytics to improve visibility and decision-making.

What you'll bring to the role

  • A university degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, supply chain management, or a related discipline.
  • Typically 10+ years of relevant experience in materials management, including supervisory, project management, and/or technical experience in the energy, chemicals, or resources sectors.
  • Advanced understanding of materials control systems, processes, and tools - with the ability to troubleshoot, train, and guide others.
  • Proven leadership in managing teams and coordinating cross-functional activities in complex project environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Confident communicator who can influence, negotiate, and collaborate across diverse teams and cultures.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and set priorities in dynamic situations, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • A proactive approach to innovation - curious about how digital tools and data can enhance material management performance.
  • Commitment to safety, integrity, and sustainability in every aspect of your work.
