Overview

This is a hybrid role with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office. We are looking for candidates who live within a commutable drivable distance to our Danville, VA office.

This position supports the Commercial Services (CMS) Operations and is a critical role that drives operational excellence and strategic transformation within the Commercial Services environment. This individual is responsible for analyzing business needs, identifying areas for improvement, and translating those needs into actionable solutions. By bridging the gap between the business and technology departments, the CMS Senior Business Analyst helps to streamline workflows, enhance productivity, and mitigate risks. This role requires a blend of analytical skills, industry knowledge, and strong communication abilities to drive positive change and support the overall strategic goals of the institution.


Responsibilities

  • Requirements Management
    • Elicit, analyze, and document business requirements from stakeholders for new projects, system enhancements, and process changes
    • Develop precise business requirement documents (BRDs)
    • Create detailed functional specifications and use case documentation
    • Ensure alignment between business objectives and technical implementations
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Serve as a critical communication bridge between business stakeholders, IT teams, and leadership
    • Facilitate collaborative workshops and requirements validation sessions
    • Manage diverse stakeholder expectations and priorities
    • Translate complex business needs into actionable technical recommendations
  • Solution Design and Implementation
    • Collaborate with technical teams to design innovative operational solutions
    • Participate in solution design, system configuration, and user acceptance testing
    • Support technology integration and system enhancement initiatives
    • Ensure solutions meet both business requirements and technical specifications
  • Strategic Process Optimization
    • Conduct comprehensive analysis of existing operational workflows
    • Develop and implement process improvement strategies
    • Create detailed process maps and future-state process designs
    • Identify and eliminate operational inefficiencies and bottlenecks
  • Compliance and Risk Management
    • Ensure comprehensive adherence to banking regulations and internal policies
    • Assess and mitigate potential operational and technological risks
  • Change Management and Enablement
    • Support organizational change through effective communication and user support
    • Facilitate smooth technological and procedural transitions

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Analytics, or modeling, or reporting OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Analytics, or modeling, or reporting

Skill(s): Proficient in SAS applications, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio, Database management experience

Current contractor/contingent worker for First Citizens Bank

  • Professional Experience
    • 3-5 years of business analysis experience in commercial banking or financial services
    • Demonstrated track record of successful process improvement initiatives
  • Technical Proficiencies
    • Product management software/tools (Jira)
    • Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Visio
    • Advanced Excel and analytical toolsets
    • Data visualization platforms a plus (Tableau, Power BI)
  • Core Competencies
