ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  1. Performs advanced level Help Desk support and answers Help Desk phones/emails.
  2. Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and takes corrective actions.
  3. Configures/deploys desktop, laptops, workstations, mobile devices, printers, image-copiers, cell phones, and County-wide computer peripherals.
  4. Installs, configures, and administers networked PC operating systems.
  5. Modifies Dodge County user accounts. Assists with outside law enforcement user accounts per request.
  6. Analyzes and troubleshoots problems of computer users with applications, procedures, software, and hardware County-wide.
  7. Remotes to end-user devices to troubleshoot problems with hardware and software.
  8. Ensures end-point devices are protected by virus and malware protection software.
  9. Responsible for troubleshooting and scheduling installs and technical support for Sheriff applications and devices. Assist with Sheriff cellular phones, hotspots, and squad computer peripherals, which also includes outside law enforcement agencies.
  10. Provides support to all County computer and other electronic device users, for Sheriff, Human Services, Health Facilities, Highway, and Administration buildings, as needed.
  11. Responsible for providing assistance with IT-supported hardware and applications in use by local and remote users across multiple sites, as requested.
  12. Responsible for imaging of desktops, laptops, and tablets to insure a standard and clean operating system with applications required.
  13. Assist with inventory and purchased hardware equipment and software maintenance and support for multiple departments.
  14. Maintains updated procedures for performing initial set-up of computer and mobile devices, equipment including CPU, monitor, printer, phones, and related hardware.
  15. Assists in analyzing, designing, and planning emerging technologies, researching new products and planning for future systems.
  16. Provides support to all County computer and other electronic device users as needed.
  17. Responds to emergency troubleshooting situations during work and/or non-work hours.
  18. Maintain and protect confidentiality regarding CJIS and HIPAA information.
  19. Performs mobile device management. Ensures setup and security for devices.
  20. Assists with device deployment project.
  21. Other duties as assigned


REQUIRED JOB COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of current technological trends for midrange, client/server, and personal computer information systems.
  • Knowledge of the various operating systems utilized by the County.

  • Knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting techniques.
  • Knowledge of software installation and support concepts.
  • Skill in troubleshooting and resolving computer hardware, software, and peripheral problems.
  • Skill in installing and configuring computer and printing equipment.
  • Skill in assisting customers with computer-related problems.
  • Knowledge of administrative policies and procedures of the County.
  • Knowledge of current office practices and procedures and knowledge of the operation of standard office equipment and software.
  • Ability to establish and maintain accurate records of assigned activities and operations.
  • Ability to interpret and implement local policies and procedures; written instructions, general correspondence; Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Skill in organizational and time management to prioritize duties to accomplish a high volume of work product while adapting to constant changes in priority.
  • Ability to perform detailed work accurately and independently in compliance with stringent time limits requiring minimal direction and supervision.
  • Ability to think quickly, maintain self-control, and adapt to stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of computer software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications consistent for this position.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations required of this position.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively in English in both written and verbal form.
  • Skill in researching and understanding complex written materials.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate and concise records and reports.
  • Ability to apply sound judgment and discretion in performing duties, resolving problems, and interpreting policies and regulations.

PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT



  • This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, frequently requires standing, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions and occasionally requires walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and reaching with hands and arms.
  • Work has standard vision requirements.
  • Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
  • Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
  • Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities.
  • Work is generally in a moderately noisy office setting.
  • Work performed within multiple County building and different operational environments.

Qualifications
Education
Bachelors (preferred)
Associates of Information Technology (required)
Experience
Information Technology and Project related certifications. (preferred)
Previous work experience in computer support experience for public safety. (preferred)
Must meet requirements of the Dodge County Driver Qualification Policy. (required)
Fingerprinting is required. Criminal background and local records check, including the Department of Transportation and NCIC/CIB wants/warrants database. (required)
Experience required in Windows server and desktop operating systems. (required)
3 years: Experience in computer and application support or other related IT experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience which provides necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. (required)
