This position will report to the Design Engineering Lab Manager and will be based in Greensboro, NC.

Position Summary

Evaluates products by conducting performance, environmental, and operational tests and running various hydraulic test stands. Performs various design functions including 3D CAD Modeling & Drawing and processing Engineering Change Orders (ECO).

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and conducts performance, environmental, and operational tests including multi-pass filtration, cold start, flow fatigue, pressure drop, dirt holding capacity, collapse pressure, burst pressure, impulse, bubble point, tensile, etc. in accordance with established ISO, Military, and SAE test standards for the purposes of Production Acceptance Testing and Engineering Development/Validation/Qualification Testing.

  • Performs analysis on test data (primarily using Excel).

  • Generates test procedures and test reports complete with data analysis and conclusions.

  • Maintains lab equipment including filter and equipment replacement, preventative maintenance, and coordination of gage and equipment Calibration/Validation services.

  • Maintains a safe, clean, stocked, and orderly lab.

  • Creates/Changes final assembly, sub-assembly, and component drawings utilizing 3D CAD (primarily SolidWorks) as directed by Design Engineering.

  • Creates/Changes test and material specifications per Design Engineering.

  • Creates and processes Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and Engineering Change Notifications/Proposals (ECNs/ECPs) per Design Engineering.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge and familiarity with hydraulic systems at the technician level with high mechanical aptitude and hands on ability. Knowledge of various hydraulic gages such as pressure transducers and flow meters is required.\
  • Knowledge of hydraulic concepts such as pressure, flow, viscosity, relief valve function, pump basics, etc.
    SolidWorks 3D CAD model, assembly, and drawing proficiency.

  • Knowledge of mechanical drafting standards such as ASME Y14.5.

  • Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency.
