Time: This will be a 48% time (no more than 19.5 hours a week), spring 2026 semester appointment

Position
This position contributes to the co-teaching efforts of SOIL3416 (3 credit course). This position reports to the department head of the Department of Soil, Water, and Climate.
Course description: Fundamental concepts in soil fertility and plant nutrition. Discuss dynamics of mineral elements in soil, plants, and the environment. Evaluation, interpretation, and
correction of plant nutrient problems.

Responsibilities:
(80%) Classroom Instruction and Course Management: Co-teach SOIL 3416

  • Foster an active, innovative, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Engage students, offer regular feedback, and inspire students to achieve course learning outcomes.
  • Create assessments that support the learning objectives for the course and effectively evaluate learning and student progress
  • Communicate regularly with students
  • Grade assignments and quizzes/exams
  • Provide encouraging, constructive, and corrective feedback
  • Meet all classes and other responsibilities as scheduled

(20%) Preparation and Management of Course Materials

  • Prepare handouts and quizzes.
  • Coordinate with greenhouse staff to obtain plant supplies for a greenhouse exercise and to ensure that plants are maintained properly during the semester.
  • Oversight of the course greenhouse area and plant materials in coordination with greenhouse staff.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Terminal degree in agricultural sciences (soils, biology, plants), or a related field
  • University-level teaching experience
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $10,000 for three credits depending on education/qualifications/experience.
