S&ME's Nashville, Tennessee, office is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic licensed engineer to join our Geotechnical team. Your Role:

This role is flexible - we're open to shaping it around your strengths and interests. You might focus on being a technical expert, managing complex geotechnical projects and mentoring junior staff, or you may want to step into a management role, leading the department and helping grow our geotechnical presence across the state. No matter the path, you'll play a big part in shaping the future of our geotechnical practice in Nashville.

Depending on your path, responsibilities may include:



  • Project Management: Manage geotechnical projects from planning to execution, maintaining quality, schedule, and budget
  • Technical Oversight: Providing technical expertise in site characterization, foundation design, slope stability, ground improvement, and related analyses
  • Engineering Solutions: Developing and reviewing geotechnical reports, proposals, calculations, and design recommendations
  • Client Engagement: Building and maintaining relationships with clients, teaming partners, and internal project teams
  • Team Leadership: Mentoring and supporting junior engineers and field staff
  • Growth: Supporting business development efforts and helping shape the strategic direction of our geotechnical practice



What You Bring:



  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Mining, or a related engineering field.
  • 4+ years of related geotechnical engineering experience, which preferably includes some extent of project management responsibilities.
  • You have a Professional Engineer (PE) license in Tennessee or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • A positive attitude that thrives in a collaborative, hands-on environment
