Position Summary:

Mackenzie-Childs is looking for artisans to hand-trim and refine the edges and surfaces of greenware pottery before bisque firing, contributing to our locally crafted Aurora collection. Paid on the job training is provided.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:(Additional duties may be assigned)

90% Finish green ware by trimming and leveling out rough edges to ensure a smooth surface prior to bisque firing.

5% Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.

5% Data entry for labor recording and tracking

Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory responsibilities

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED

Special Requirements:

• Weekend work to suit business needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to use hand tools applicable to trade.
• Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
• Attention to detail.

Equipment Used:

• Rubber scrapers, wire tools, sponges and clay trimmer
• Computer
• Safety Equipment: Safety shoes

Physical and Mental Requirements:

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, reach, push, pull, lift, crouch, kneel, bend, use fingers to grasp, handle, feel, and perform repetitive motions of hands or wrists.
• Exerts up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
• Moderate mental and visual attention required for performing manual work, machine operations, set-ups, inspections, and adjustments that require frequent decisions to detect and adjust for variance from proper operation.

Environmental Conditions:

The worker is subject to dust.

Location: Aurora, NY

Salary Range: 17.50/hr
