Position Summary:

Provides supportandmentorshipof the seasonal summer camp leadership team.Maintaining organization andoversight of the teamin an advisory role. Responsible for, but not limited to, scheduling leadership tasks,supporting leadership team in daily responsibilities, andoverseeing programing. Directly supervises staff within the program.Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotescampersafety and engagement. Provides a quality experienceforchildren and parentsfocused on youth development including theYMCA core values:caring, honesty, respect,responsibility, andfaith.

Essential Functions:

  • Mentors andsupports leadershipteamwithdailytasks.
  • Schedulesand organizes weeklyleadershiptasks.
  • Oversee team meetings in the absence of Directors.
  • Able toassistin all areas of camp when adirectoris not available.
  • Supervisesand supportsstaff and campers in all programs.
  • Supportsprogram activities that are culturally relevant, developmentallyappropriate,and consistent with YMCA core values.
  • Responsible forcompletingdaily tasks related to theoperation ofcampprograms.

    • Works with the team tomaintaincamp programing andschedulingas necessary.


    • Observeallstaff to ensure that they are performing theirnecessaryduties.


    • Participates in the completion of closing procedures following summer camp activities.


    • Conductsevaluations ofLeadstaff to ensure the quality of their performance and coaches/mentors'staff when they are not meeting expectations.


    • Submitsrequests in advanceforadditional equipment and supplies when needed.

  • Participates enthusiasticallywith other program staff toprepare camp forsummer camper arrivals, departures, andspecial events.
  • Participates enthusiasticallyinprogramstaff meetings andtraining.
  • Maintains positive relations withguestsand other staff.Conveyinformation on programs and schedulesfor campers.
  • Attends camp marketing events and otherspecial eventsasdirected,and other duties allow.
  • Representsand promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
  • Develops and maintainscollaborative relationships with community agencies in service deliveryareas.
  • All other duties assigned

Current record of tuberculosis examination and/or current local health department regulations, examinations, and/or immunization as requiredby the local or State Department of Health.

Qualifications:

  • Prefer3 years ofresident camp experience.
  • Prefer 2 yearsofsupervisory experience.
  • CPR, First aid and O2certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within30 daysof hire date.
  • Prefer knowledge of, andpreviousexperience with, diverse populations

Other Requirements:

TheProgramCoordinator is required tolive on the camp property during the season.
