Responsibilities

Under direct supervision, assists with the releasing of patient medical records while following MNO policy and procedures. Assists in taking incoming calls and directing the caller appropriately. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/corporation.
  • Releases medical records information to individuals or agencies in compliance with State and Federal regulations, adhering to MNO policies.

  • Prints, mails, and/or faxes patient chart information as requested and authorized. Documents all releases of Protected Health Information (PHI).

  • Assists with answering incoming phone calls, taking callers' requests, or forwarding calls appropriately.

  • Submits requests for chart retrieval from storage as needed to fulfill medical records requests.

  • Facilitates the transfer of MNO imaging to external entities.

  • In the Radiation department, converts dosimetry plans into a PDR or zip file when a patient transfers to another facility for treatment.

  • Logs FMLA/Disability forms for provider completion and ensures appropriate mailing or faxing of forms.

SALARY LEVEL:

$20 - $26/hour


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting
  • Previous medical records experience preferred
  • Knowledge of electronic health records preferred
  • Strong skills in time management, organization, and attention to detail required

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
