About the Role Howard Hughes Communities is seeking a dynamic SVP, Head of Culture & People to serve as a strategic partner and lead for our human resources function. This executive will oversee HR Business Partners, Total Rewards, Talent Management, Learning and Development, Employee Experience, and People Analytics, while driving alignment with our purpose, mission, and values. Key responsibilities include advancing culture, talent management, shaping compensation and benefits strategies, and leading initiatives in workforce planning, performance management, succession, organizational design, employee relations, and HR compliance. The role requires proven expertise in leading several areas of human resources and the ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution. This highly visible, people-centric leader will guide a talented HR team, foster cross-functional collaboration, and provide innovative thought leadership to ensure Howard Hughes Communities remains a place where people thrive. What You Will Do
Effectively uses data analytics to inform and drive the development of long- and short-term people related strategic plans and ensures alignment of HR strategies in support of organizational goals and objectives. Manages talent strategy, guiding recruitment and organizational design in partnership with leadership to reward outstanding performance. Develops strategic communications plan to support C+P initiatives and align all areas of the organization with Howard Hughes Communities' purpose and values. Cultivates the employee experience to ensure all employees feel connected and engaged with the organization. Prepares and presents materials to the Board of Directors, the Compensation Committee and other Board committees as identified, and Executive Leadership of the Company. Leads due diligence for potential business acquisitions and ensures effective integration into C+P policies and programs. Coaches, mentors, and acts as a confidential resource on cultural related issues to executive and senior leadership. Responsible for the strategic planning, design, and administration of employee benefit programs. Oversees industry benchmarking, Request for Proposal (RFP) process, selection of providers, communication of changes, and ensures compliance and cost containment. Responsible for all HR Technology including, but not limited to, Workday, company intranet, equity management system, learning management system, and all other total rewards-related platforms. Ensures the Company's compliance with federal and state legislation employment law. Responsible for the management of employment-related litigation. Consults with legal counsel as appropriate. Responsible for the development and interpretation of the Company's policies, procedures, and programs. Creates strategic learning & development programs that support the growth of the Company and development of employees. Leads Culture & Inclusion and partners with the organization on other ESG-related programs. Creates and conducts annual culture programs for all employees to reinforce the Company's values. Develops and manages the C+P budget.
About You
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field is required, advanced degree is preferred. Human Resources certification is preferred. Fifteen years of progressive operational and/or HR experience, including a minimum of seven years of leadership/management experience managing several aspects of Human Resources Strong business acumen with a broad HR background especially in the areas of compensation; benefits, including executive compensation/stock programs; talent management; learning and development; employee relations and HRIS. Demonstrated capability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all departments and employees in a team-oriented environment. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on difficult and complex topics to employees and management at all levels of the Company, and to the Board of Directors. Multistate HR experience required. Ability to travel as required, up to 20% of working days.
