Responsibilities

Are you ready to play a pivotal role in driving growth within the financial services industry? Join us as a key partner to Investment Advisor Representative (IAR) agents as an Internal Wholesaler, where you'll proactively guide them through appointment facilitation and business development activities. You'll be at the forefront of identifying new opportunities and collaborating seamlessly with both internal teams and external partners to ensure smooth communication and swift resolution of complex cases. In this job you are primarily responsible for:

  • Opportunity Identification: Identifying and advancing new business opportunities, consulting on cases and appointment strategies, and promoting ongoing registered representative agent development.
  • Agent Resource Focus: Supporting growth in financial services through proactive engagement, guidance, and facilitating appointments or activities with registered representative agents that promote sales and business development.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Coordinating with internal and external teams, maintaining clear communication, and escalating complex cases or opportunities as appropriate
  • Coaching agents: supporting registered representative agents in using advanced financial services planning tools and conducting comprehensive financial discussions
  • Sharing market feedback: providing insights to shape support activities and respond to registered representative agent and market needs

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years or equivalent experience in financial services or sales with a proven track record of success of exceeding targets and building and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience with holistic planning for retirement and legacy goals, as well as strategies tailored to business owner needs.
  • Strong ability to coach agents in conducting needs-based conversations that address a wide range of customer needs.
  • Proficient in handling incoming calls from small business owners, offering professional and detailed sales-oriented information including product details, illustrations, forms, and marketing materials to agents and back-office support personnel.
  • Competence in assisting with the design of effective sales "point of sale" presentations.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a proven track record of contributing to and achieving sales goals within a wholesaler team and providing support to team members as needed.
  • Exceptional ability to build strong relationships that drive action and influence among all levels of agents.

Additional Details:

  • Selected candidates will be required to possess and/or obtain (within approximately the first 10 weeks) a Securities Industries Essentials (SIE), Series 6 license, Series 63 and Series 65 or equivalent and Life/Health, Variable license.
    • Selected candidates will have a maximum of two attempts to successfully pass the required securities licensing exams
    • If unsuccessful after two attempts on any exam, employment may be terminated
  • Fingerprint, credit check and background check are required for sponsorship of FINRA licensing
  • Employees will be eligible for incentive pay once all required licenses are obtained
  • Employees must successfully obtain all other applicable licensing and certifications for role including, but not limited to, LTC Certification, Annuities Certification and potential state securities licensing, as applicable.
  • Employees may be required to sign the Acknowledgement of Policy on Personal Account Transactions
  • May be required to work flexible, non-standard hours, including weekends and holidays, based on operational needs and workload
  • May require periodic travel
  • Requirements subject to change at State Farm discretion based on a business need.

Incumbency:
This position will have a 12-month incumbency period beginning on the effective date of the position, which must be met before the employee can post for any other lateral State Farm position. Posting for promotional positions are not subject to this incumbency period. The incumbency period does not affect the at-will relationship between State Farm and the employee and does not create an employment contract, nor contractual rights.

Internal Wholesaler Level 1:

  • The fixed annual salary is $80,000 and employees are not eligible for annual merit increases. Employees may be eligible for a geographic differential based on the location from which an employee is working.
  • Employees may be eligible to participate in incentive programs, including an annual bonus, once all licensing and securities sponsorship/registration is obtained.
  • The total compensation opportunity, including a fixed base salary and potential incentive pay eligibility for this position, may range from $80,000-$96,000 with the possibility for incentive earnings to exceed this range. No amount of incentive compensation is guaranteed.

Internal Wholesaler Level 2:

  • The fixed annual salary is $100,000 and employees are not eligible for annual merit increases. Employees may be eligible for a geographic differential based on the location from which an employee is working.
  • Employees may be eligible to participate in incentive programs, including a quarterly bonus and an annual bonus, once all licensing and securities sponsorship/registration is obtained
  • The total compensation opportunity, including a fixed base salary and potential incentive pay eligibility for this position, may range from $100,000 - $165,000 with the possibility for incentive earnings to exceed this range. No amount of incentive compensation is guaranteed.

[NOTE: Candidates who need to obtain Securities and other licensing will be in a non-exempt status while obtaining their licensing. The annual rate of pay will be based on a 38.75 work week at an hourly rate based on applicable annualized salary.]

Work Arrangement:

REMOTE: Qualified candidates (outside of hub locations listed below) may be considered for remote work arrangements based on where a candidate currently resides or is currently located.

HYBRID: Qualified candidates (in or near hub locations listed below) should plan to spend time working from home and some time working in the office as part of our hybrid work environment.

Current in-office expectations: 4 days a month.
HUB LOCATIONS: Dunwoody, GA; Richardson, TX; Tempe, AZ; or Bloomington, IL

For Los Angeles candidates: Pursuant to the Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories.
For San Francisco candidates: Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.

Securities Licensing
This position requires you to obtain/maintain all applicable FINRA licensing exams (Securities Industry Essentials, Series 6, Series 63, and Series 65 or equivalent), sponsorship from State Farm VP Management Corp (SFVPMC) and State Farm Investment Management Corp. (SFIMC), and that you become registered and remain in good standing as required by SFVPMC, SFIMC and FINRA. To confirm eligibility for sponsorship, you will complete fingerprinting and a credit check. This is in addition to the pre-employment background check. You will be required to obtain sponsorship and pass all applicable FINRA exam(s) within the first 10 weeks after studying begins. You will be required to sign a Securities Registration Agreement upon hire.
