Job Description
Dunmore International Corporation is seeking a part-time Data Engineering & AI/ML Intern to support our Data Engineering and IT teams. This role will contribute to strengthening our data infrastructure, enhancing internal software systems, and advancing AI/ML initiatives with a focus on delivering immediate business impact. The ideal candidate will be pursuing or hold a degree in Data Science, Engineering, or a related field and have strong interest in applied machine learning and modern data technologies.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the development, maintenance, and optimization of data infrastructure and pipelines.
- Assist in software engineering projects, including building and improving internal applications and automation workflows.
- Evaluate and contribute to the development of generative AI and ML use cases that enhance efficiency and business outcomes.
- Analyze, clean, and prepare datasets to ensure accuracy and reliability for reporting and AI/ML applications.
- Assist with data modeling, integration, and governance to improve data quality across systems.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) and provide insights to support decision-making.
- Develop documentation and training materials for tools, workflows, and processes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Data Engineering, IT, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Research and recommend emerging tools, frameworks, and methodologies in data science, software engineering, and AI.
- Participate in code reviews, version control (GitHub), and collaborative development practices.
Focus Areas / Projects
- Data Infrastructure & Pipelines: Enhance and automate pipelines to support reporting and analytics.
- Generative AI Process Automation: Prototype AI solutions that reduce repetitive, manual processes.
- AI for Forecasting: Apply ML models to improve demand and production forecasts.
- SIOP Data Automation: Automate data workflows within the Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning process.
- Intelligent Document Handling: Explore AI/ML solutions for classification, summarization, and data extraction from business documents.
- GitHub Enablement: Support the launch of Dunmore's GitHub environment and contribute to best practices in collaborative development.
Requirements
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or completed a BS degree in Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; higher education (MS/PhD) is a plus.
- Familiarity with Python, SQL, and data analysis tools.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is preferred.
- Understanding of machine learning concepts and libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
