The Donaldson Aerospace and Defense group is seeking a Senior Manager Engineering II who will lead the activity and success of the Air Product Engineering team. This role is a critical piece of our product leadership team and is accountable for the development of new and continued success of existing Air products in the A&D portfolio. The Senior Manager Engineering II facilitates a strong collaboration across their team and the entire organization by collaborating both with internal partners and actively representing Donaldson with our outside customers. The ideal candidate is self-directed and driven to lead a team that supports Donaldson's Aerospace and Defense group's success and our customers. Qualified candidates must be able to work a hybrid schedule at our Bloomington, MN headquarters.

Role Responsibilities:

Lead the Engineering Team

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Engineers, fostering a high-performance and collaborative environment

  • Define clear expectations and priorities by setting challenging but achievable goals and performance metrics for individual team members and the team

  • Promote a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and engineering rigor

  • Facilitate success through prioritization, planning and effective resource utilization

Develop New Products

  • Ensure the successful realization of new Air filtration products which surpass customer expectations by driving the design, development and commercialization activities from concept to launch

  • Effectively utilize structured development processes ensuring products meet performance, cost, quality, and project schedule requirements

  • Collaborate with product management and sales to translate market requirements into product specifications

Maintain Existing Products

  • Organize engineering efforts to support existing production of current products, cost reduction activities, quality improvement initiatives, and performance enhancement projects

  • Ensure the utilization of robust engineering change management processes

  • Support operations, supply chain and quality teams to ensure the continued on-time delivery and high level of product quality expected by our customers

Implement Engineering Best Practices & Tools

  • Champion the use of modern engineering tools (e.g., CAD, FEA, CFD, PLM systems) and data-driven decision-making.

  • Leverage the use of design standards, guidelines, documentation best practices and knowledge sharing

  • Promote processes necessary for successful product realization including Design for Manufacturing, Risk analysis and mitigation, PPAP, DVPR and other engineering excellence initiatives.

TRAVEL: Up to 25%

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, engineering or related discipline

  • 7+ years of progressive engineering experience in product development, preferably in phase gate approach to designing and developing of products

  • 3+ years of supervisory or management experience and demonstrated leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of prior managerial experience leading a team of engineers

  • Strong knowledge of engineering design principles, testing methodologies, and product development processes

  • Filtration product engineering knowledge and experience

  • Aerospace and Defense market experience including familiarity with AS9100, FAA PMA and regulatory and validation requirements for products and product development

  • Master's degree in relevant field

  • Effective at using standard office software and project management tools

  • Demonstrated customer focus and strong communication skills at all levels both inside and outside the organization

  • Capable and comfortable making timely decisions and removing ambiguity in direction

  • Experience working in a matrix environment and partnering with teams outside our business unit

  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to specification

  • Proficient in product cost analysis, project costing, basic financial calculations and budgeting

Relocation: This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.

Annual Salary Range: $134,800 - $178,700.

Actual salaries will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to applicable work experience, training, education, performance.

This position is eligible for annual incentive plan based on performance and company growth.
