The Pei Group at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Scientist with expertise in the field of AI/ML methods, infectious disease, data analytics, and computational modeling in health-related research. The Postdoctoral Research Scientist will work on projects focusing on early detection and inference for emerging infectious agents, and more broadly, apply AI/ML methods in human health research. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a quantitative field including but not limited to computer science, applied math, physics, statistics, epidemiology, and data science. Strong programming skills (Python or R) and good oral and written communication skills are required. Previous experience with AI methods and data science is required. A strong publication record and the ability to perform research independently are highly preferred. Experience applying AI methods in infectious disease research is a plus. The Postdoctoral Research Scientist will work in the research group of Dr. Sen Pei based within Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health in New York City and join an interdisciplinary research team with expertise in mathematical modeling, Bayesian inference, network science, AI engineering, and data science.
