Job Overview & Essential Functions
Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America's largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a Benefit Specialist. The Benefit Specialist is responsible for the shared day-to-day administration and communication of MHC's employee health, welfare, and retirement plans. Assists and resolves employee benefit questions, concerns, and issues to deliver a positive employee experience. Coordinates leave administration with employees, human resources, management, and third-party vendors. Ensures plans are administered consistent with company policies and comply with federal and state regulations.
- Administers assigned health, welfare, retirement, and voluntary benefit plans including medical, dental, vision, FSA, HSA, life, and disability insurance, etc. in accordance with plan documents and regulatory requirements.
- Responds to inquiries regarding employee benefits.
- Coordinates with third-party vendor regarding leave of absence process and procedures, including the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), state and local leave laws, and short-term or long-term disability plans.
- Audits benefit enrollments and reviews benefits invoices for payment. Performs quality checks and audits of benefit-related data to ensure data integrity and compliance.
- Advises employees on benefit options. Assists employees on enrollment and rules surrounding benefits. (i.e., qualified life events, annual enrollment, time limits, etc.) Responsible for actions related to annual open enrollment and processing employee benefit elections Prepares applicable reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies (i.e., Form 5500, Non-Discrimination Testing, ACA reporting, etc.).
- Ensures plans are administered in accordance with federal and state regulations and plan provisions are followed
- Assists in the development of the employee value proposition that engages, addresses, supports, and retains talent for the company through program design and communications (i.e., intranet, print materials, total reward statements, etc.)
- Continually identifies areas for improvement and implements new procedures and processes where possible.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
- Three or more years' of experience in human resources benefits administration and/or leave administration.
- Knowledge of employee benefit plans and applicable federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, affecting employee benefits programs including the ERIS, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ACA, ADA, Section 125, etc.
- Excellent organization, time management, and written and verbal communication/customer service skills.
- Ability to always maintain confidential and sensitive information.
- Strong project management skills with a proven ability to effectively plan, set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment. Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products and HRIS systems.
- Must be well organized and detail oriented.
- Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Must be familiar with employee benefit plan administration.
