The American Hospital Association (AHA) is a national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. The AHA has two main offices, located in Washington, D.C. and Chicago. We are currently seeking a Strategic Account Executive, Licensing for our Chicago office. This position is a hybrid role (three days in the office, two days working remote).

Starting base salary = $102,000- $128,000- $154,000 (commensurate with related experience) plus incentive compensation. The AHA is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The Strategic Account Executive, Licensing is responsible for driving revenue growth through strategic licensing initiatives. Manage the full lifecycle of licensing agreements, from prospecting and negotiation to execution and compliance monitoring by balancing sales acumen, compliance oversight, relationship management and cross-functional collaboration.

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:



  • Strategic Sales & Business Development: Develop and execute sales plans to meet growth objectives. Create compelling value propositions for potential licensees. Conduct discovery calls, licensing presentations, and close deals. Expand into new use cases and product categories. Lead Licensing Transition efforts as the primary transition manager during the transition period. Prepares briefings for Deal Desk input and advises/participates in discussion and preparation for negotiations.
  • Licensing & Compliance Management: Negotiate new licensing agreements. Ensure adherence to intellectual property rights and legal frameworks. Monitor licensee compliance with contractual obligations. Manage contract lifecycle including select renewals.
  • Relationship & Account Management: Build and maintain long-term relationships with key stakeholders. Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts. Collaborate with internal teams (deal desk, legal, finance, product) to align on licensing initiatives.
  • Salesforce CRM & Pipeline Management: Maintain accurate records of leads, opportunities, and client interactions. Prioritize and track deal stages, assign lead scores, and forecast new revenue. Use dashboards to monitor performance and identify trends.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Sales Leadership, Deal Desk, Legal, Finance, Marketing, and Product teams. Ensure alignment on pricing, contract terms.

    Education
    Bachelors of Business Administration (required)
    Experience
    5 years: *Experience in licensing, business development or strategic sales
    *Experience selling to the health care or related industry
    *Experience developing a portfolio and managing an existing customer base in excess of $2 million annually.
