Job Summary

The Systems Administrator position plays a critical role in managing and maintaining CSBS's Information Security infrastructure, systems, and applications. The Systems Administrator will support asset management, account management, configuration management, content management, system maintenance, system monitoring, troubleshooting, change control, end-user training and assistance, desktop support, and system documentation.



Essential Functions

  • Perform software distributions, including OS and applications upgrades.
  • Deploy software applications to all clients using GPO and other mass deployment methodologies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
  • Configure and manage wireless access points, including load monitoring and rebalancing, and recommend upgrades/additions as needed.
  • Configure and tune monitoring of IT operations using automated monitoring tools and respond to alerts, with proper internal and vendor escalations, including after-hours.
  • Act as first line of endpoint decontamination taskforce following a security breach event of client workstations.
  • Perform system hardening techniques to secure client workstations, and/or servers.
  • Manage user entitlements, including account activation/deactivation, monitoring for account dormancy, etc. for all systems in the CSBS IT portfolio. This includes on premise systems and cloud services.
  • Perform reporting along with periodic log and monitoring trends analysis.
  • Maintain asset management databases for hardware assets and software licenses.
  • Assist with administration of AWS cloud environment including managing VPC, security groups, EC2, EBS, snapshots, load balancers, Route53, etc.


Additional Responsibilities



  • Support 24x7 infrastructure, including off-hours and weekend on-call responsibilities.
  • Manage the configurations of applications, both on premise and cloud based (e.g., M365 user administration, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and Teams).
  • Perform racking, cabling and configuration activities associated with the installation of new hardware. Maintain A/V set up for presentations; work with staff to educate, train, and troubleshoot A/V presentations on a weekly basis.



Minimum Qualifications


To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education, training and/or work experience required.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience/training is preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in system administration activities.
  • Microsoft certification(s) is preferred.


  • Experience in SQL server installation and administration is preferred.


  • IT Service Management experience following ITIL processes and utilizing tools such as ServiceNow is desired.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Dependable due to the operational nature of the work.
  • Knowledge of M365 products as well as how to administer and support them.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, DHCP, and DNS.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and related Microsoft solutions.
  • Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or other IaaS solutions is preferred.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work effectively within matrixed teams across the organization.
  • Ability to work with external service providers.
  • Ability to remain calm during stressful working circumstances.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to identify and discuss issues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple tasks driven by multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment (<50lb) and work in confined spaces/network rooms with loud equipment.
