A Flowback Operator in the oil and gas industry plays a crucial role in the well testing and production process. They are responsible for managing and monitoring the flow of oil, gas, and water from wellheads following completion or workover operations, capturing production data, and assessing well performance. This position involves operating and maintaining flowback equipment, recording data, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring all processes adhere to safety and environmental standards.

Working closely with infrastructure, completion, and production teams, the Flowback Operator sets up (rig-up) and dismantles (rig-down) flowback equipment at various well sites. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in challenging field conditions. A successful Flowback Operator will ensure efficient, safe operations, minimize downtime, and contribute to the overall success of well production activities.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and operate flowback equipment: Manage flowback tanks, separators, and other necessary equipment to ensure effective well testing and data collection.
  • Conduct flowback operations: Control and monitor the flow of oil, gas, and water from wellheads to capture production data and assess well performance.
  • Ensure safety standards: Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including hazard assessments, to maintain a safe working environment on-site.
  • Record and report data: Accurately document flow rates, pressures, and volumes, and prepare daily reports for supervisors and engineering teams.
  • Maintain equipment: Perform regular maintenance on flowback equipment, identify any issues, and coordinate repairs to prevent downtime.
  • Troubleshoot issues: Quickly identify and resolve equipment or process malfunctions to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Monitor well conditions: Regularly check for changes in well conditions, such as pressure and temperature fluctuations, and report findings promptly.
  • Assist with rig-up and rig-down operations: Set up and dismantle flowback equipment at various well sites as required.
  • Communicate with Diamondback facility flowback foreman on job status, communicate schedule changes, or cost impacts
  • Understand Diamondback key performance indicators for safety, time, and cost performance, help to improve
  • Input and manage reports and maintain high report quality in Siteview and on daily company reports
  • Attend meetings prior to flowback rig up to ensure all providers are aligned with expectations
  • Understand and follow procedures set forth for flowback, make recommendations for change when necessary.
  • Assist infrastructure foreman and production operator with battery start up and operations until hand off
  • Also, will be required to assist mechanical construction and I&E teams during facility commissioning
  • Meet 1:1 with project foreman weekly to discuss performance, execution, and opportunities

Required Qualifications:

  • High school Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum (1) year of oilfield experience or Military experience with a rank of E4 or above with relevant technical skills acquired in lieu of oilfield experience.
  • Must possess and maintain driver's license.
  • Able to meet and maintain the clean driving insurability standard requirements to drive a company vehicle, which means a driving record that is clear of any of serious traffic violations within the past three (3) years. (Other driving record requirements may also apply.)

  • Computer literacy and the ability to pick up new software programs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven capability to work both independently and collaboratively with differing levels of authority.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage work in stressful situations.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills must be able to lead and direct projects.
  • Must understand oil and gas facility process flow.
  • Familiar with oilfield terminology and operations.
